Pro tip: We recommend that you collect your tickets from the ticket kiosk at the Palatine Hill entrance and not the Colosseum, as the queues there are the longest. The ticket kiosk here is not as busy a the one at the Colosseum, and is only a 5 minute walk from the Colosseum, midway down the street - Via di San Gregorio.
The best way to go about this tour is to begin with the Palatine Hills. On completing your tour of the Palatine Hill, you will get an excellent birds' eye view of the Roman Forum as you descend down into it, making it a great way to start your tour of the Forum.
Lastly, as you make your way through the exit gate of the Roman Forum, you will end up at the Colosseum, free from the hassle of waiting in the long lines.
Your Colosseum ticket also includes entry to the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. Situated just five minutes walk from the Colosseum, Palatine Hill offers one of the best views of the city. Once considered the most desirable neighborhood in Rome, Palatine Hill lives on as an extensive archaeological site. Explore ruins of the Flavian Palace and Stadium of Domitian, as well as the legendary Hut of Romulus. Afterward, head to the Roman Forum and travel back in time as you walk along the same paths as the ancient Romans did. Know Before You Go
The Colosseum opens at 8:30 am, year-round. The closing time varies as follows:
5:00 pm from February 16 to March 15
5:30 pm from March 16 to last Saturday of March
7:15 pm from the last Sunday of March to August 31
7:00 pm from September 1 to September 30
6:30 pm from October 1 to last Saturday of October
4:30 pm from last Sunday of October to December 31
Palatine Hill and Roman Forum hours
Opens at 8:30am and closes one hour before sunset.
The Colosseum can be reached by metro line B, train line 3, or via buses 75, 81, 673, 175, and 204. If you’re coming from Rome’s Termini train station, the quickest and most efficient way to reach the Colosseum is by metro. If you prefer to get there by foot, it’s about a 30 minute walk from the train station.
Rules and restrictions
For safety and security reasons, no large backpacks or pieces of luggage are allowed inside the Colosseum.

Bring a printout of your ticket to save the most time. If you don’t have access to a printer, you can redeem the tickets on your phone, but you’ll have to wait in a 15min line. Still much better than the normal line though!
How to Redeem your Tickets
You will receive an email containing your ticket voucher. There are two ways to redeem your ticket:
1. On the day of your experience, arrive at the Colosseum with a printout of your ticket voucher. Proceed directly to the security check and into the Colosseum.
2. On the day of your experience, display your voucher, via mobile device, along with a valid photo ID at the ticket box office located in the Colosseum square, across from the ‘Individual’s Entrance Gate’. Receive your tickets, and proceed to the Colosseum entrance. Please note, you may be required to wait in a short line at the box office.
Please note: If you book a reduced price ticket, you will need to collect your tickets from the ticketing office, where you will be asked to show proof of ID.
Your tickets are valid for 2 days, redeemable anytime before the end of the year. You may enter as you wish, within operating hours.
