With the tickets we bought on the app, we were able to visit the Colosseum and Palatine Hill, which also provides access to the Roman Forum. It was an incredible experience; all three sites are wonderful and vast, and they’re worth spending a full day visiting at a leisurely pace to truly enjoy the experience. The audio guide makes the experience more immersive and draws you completely into history.

The Colosseum is a must-see if you’re visiting Rome; the audio guides, which are always included with every Headout ticket, are very helpful. Headout is very efficient—it sends messages to remind you where to go on the day of your reservation and what steps to take to enter the site. If you’re visiting the Imperial Forums during the hot summer months, a parasol is highly recommended.

Lots of advertising and hype. It would be exactly the same in person. No benefits from the headset. And St. Peter's Basilica was a total letdown. No ticket, no entry. All for nothing. HEADOUT? NO, THANKS!

We were so disappointed when the official 18€ Colosseum tickets sold out, but Headout saved our trip! Once inside, my mind was blown. The sheer size of the building is unimaginable for the era it was built—it 100% deserves to be a Wonder of the World. Honestly, it felt like walking straight into a Game of Thrones set. Easy to book and easy to get in. The advantage of the ticket is that we could leave some time between our visit to the Colosseum and our visit to the Forum—which was much appreciated during the heat wave. So we visited the Colosseum in the morning and came back in the late afternoon for the Forum (a little less crowded and 2 degrees cooler).

To see the colosseum as you turn a corner on a street is an absolutely unbelievable sight. To go in the colosseum is something I cannot describe. You need to be there to understand. When your standing inside it, it roots you to the spot. It's been a week since I visited and im still in awe.

What to bring

A valid photo ID is required for all participants and must match the name on the reservation.

Download your audio guide in advance on the Headout app and bring charged headphones if applicable.

What’s not allowed

Objects such as large bags, sharp items and loose electronics must be placed in the X-ray tray during security screening.

Additional information

If your access includes Mamertine Prison, your visit must begin there and you must arrive at least 1 hour before your Colosseum time slot to collect your entry ticket.

Timed access applies to the Colosseum only; Forum and Palatine Hill can be visited anytime within 24 hours but each entrance may be used only once.

Note that there are 2 entrances: one for the Colosseum, and another for the Roman Forum & Palatine Hill (combined). You may enter each entrance ONLY ONCE and not re-enter.

The security check can take 30 mins or more. To make the process quicker, please insert any object (including mobile phone) in the bag/backpack or in the tray to be included in the X-ray.

Each site has different opening hours, so check in advance. Plan around 2–3 hours for the Colosseum, 1–1.5 hours each for Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum, and 30–45 minutes for Mamertine Prison.
