The tour was OK and there was a Guide not archeologist but knew better the zone, but we were way more than 15 people so that made everything more difficult and slow. We were a group of 23 in total and the organization before the tour was a little bit bad, instead of sending us the tickets the same day in the morning, the guide had to make everything and there was some people that had tickets and other hadn't, so again it went slower than usual so we didn't have time enough to see everything with the guide

An incredible experience!! Marina is an amazing guide—she’s so friendly and knows so many interesting facts about Pompeii. Plus, the small group size lets you really immerse yourself in the experience. 100% recommended!!! I also want to thank the ticket counter girl at Towns Of Italy who, even though we arrived late, helped us a lot find our guide and join the tour. Thanks, girls 💘💘💘💘💘 You’re all gorgeous!!!!

We liked the guide the best. He spoke German very well and brought the Pompeii of the past to life for us with great enthusiasm. I’ve traveled the world many times, and he was one of the best guides I’ve ever had. The tour was engaging; he didn’t just recite facts, but told us about the lives and people of that time. He answered our many questions very well. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the guide’s name.

We were given a tour by Grazia, and we greatly appreciated how she taught us to look at details of everyday life in Pompeii from a personal perspective. A connection to the here and now of our society. Where it was about inclusive society, climate, gastronomy, division of roles, household, efficiency on many fronts. Wonderful!! One day was too short.

We had an incredible tour of Pompeii with our fantastic guide Alfredo, who gave a 2-hour tour in French, after which we explored on our own. His explanations were fascinating and helped us understand so much more as we continued on our own. We highly recommend this tour. We spent 5 hours there without noticing the time fly by and without seeing everything—it was late March, so there were very few people, making it ideal.

I had always wanted to visit Pompeii, and finally the time had come. It was a wonderful visit that far exceeded my expectations, largely thanks to Marina, the guide, whose explanations, knowledge, and company were key to ensuring that my entire group (there were 12 of us) thoroughly enjoyed this truly magical place. Thank you to Marina and her entire team.

Greeted at the meeting point by the very happy, cheerful Daniele. He was exceptionally organised and clear with his instructions. We were taken through by our guide, Michele (Michael), he was incredibly knowledgeable, connected with the group, and entertaining. The walk was quite challenging and exhausting, navigating some difficult terrain at times over 3 hours. It’s definitely not a tour for people with mobility issues. However, it was fascinating to explore the site and learning so much history from Michele. I nearly chose to do this tour independently, but following advice from a close friend, I’m glad I chose this option. This is the second tour I’ve booked with Headout and both times I have been nothing less than impressed. I highly recommend using Headout for booking this tour. Exceptional!!

It was a nice informative tour, our guide was very good and we were a really small group so it helped with understanding everything. Maybe just a tip, it could have been helpful if at the end of the tour, maybe it will be good if the guide points out the best parts still to see maybe alone, if one have more time, after the tour.

What an amazing experience! The ruins are very well preserved, and the site is HUGE. Plus, our guide, Raffaele, was really friendly and knows the city inside out—he explained every corner and shared some funny stories! Thanks to him, we were able to imagine what a day in the life of the people of Pompeii was like!

  • Through an archaeologist's lens

Take a 2-hour guided walk through Pompeii, an archaeological marvel, offering insights into daily life during the Roman Empire. Breeze past the queue with the skip-the-line ticket, and begin your expedition with an archaeologist guide through ancient streets and the bustling Forum, a central public space serving as the heart of civic, commercial, and social activities.

Learn about the city's history, including the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This volcanic eruption buried the city under a thick layer of ash and pumice, preserving it remarkably well for centuries. Discover hidden secrets of attractions like the Basilica, the Thermopolium of Asellina, and the Stabian Baths, considered to be the oldest public baths in the city, constructed during the 2nd century BC.

    Walk through Pompeii’s highlights

Stroll down the Via dell’Abbondanza to reach the Teatro Grande, Pompeii's foremost theatre, primarily hosting theatrical performances, musical events, and various public spectacles. Throughout the exploration, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate ancient Roman artworks. Have the opportunity to step into the culinary world of ancient Pompeii as you explore the Thermopilia, ancient Roman "fast-food" establishments that once served as communal gathering spaces for locals.

Get to see the erotic frescoes woven into the walls of Pompeii's ruins where your guide will provide a nuanced perspective on the sensual aspects of Pompeii's culture.

Visit Foro, a hub of ancient political activities where you can get a sense of political chatters that once existed in these ruins. End the tour at the 'Calchi dei Corpi,' plaster casts that preserve the final moments of victims during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
