When We Dead Awaken Tickets

On a break in a mountain resort off the coast of Norway, Arnold Rubek and his wife Maia, see Irene. Back when he was a young artist, Rubek had found Irene to be the perfect model, but he had turned away from her love. Ever since he left her, Rubek had stopped creating lovely works in marble and made only concealed caricatures. Now, as he sees Irene again, he finds his life of ease with Maia intolerable. Eventually, he goes with Irene in search of their lost love and finds death with her in the snow at the top of the mountain.

Featuring a Norwegian/British cast, the play is performed in a mixture of Norwegian and English with surtitles. Andrea Bræin Hovig plays Maia Rubek, Øystein Røger is Arnold Rubek and Ragnhild Margrethe Gudbrandsen is cast as Irene von Satow. The play was originally composed by Henrik Ibsen and the production is directed by renowned Norwegian director Kjetil Bang Hansen, in his first production in the UK.
