We rode the Creole Queen because the Natchez is taking a break. The paddlewheel is mesmerizing, the calliope at two is a must, and it's so relaxing to sail leisurely down the Mississippi. The commentary is smoothly delivered and very informative. We have ridden the Natchez or the Creole Queen various times over the past 30 years and look forward eagerly to this adventure. Our son, now a grown-up, loves it as much as we do.

We had a great afternoon on the jazz cruise! The narrator was great and gave great information, but it was incredibly hard to hear him. There needs to be more staff on the boat to regulate things like SMOKING - as there were people smoking near us. There seemed to be a lot of people on this cruise, so it was very congested.

The Subday Brunch Jazz Cruise was definitely worth it. The music was fun and upbeat. The guide explained the various attractions while cruising down the Mississippi River. However, the brunch buffet was AMAZING!! I would do it again, just for the brunch experience. The service was exceptional. My server was Milton; he was awesome. I tipped him well, and I told him how fabulous his personality is. They seat you, then start you out with gumbo. It was very hot and good. My favorites were the biscuits, sausage, grits, shrimp, and PLEASE send me some of that Creole Creamed Spinach!! The food was delicious. Definitely worth it.

We really liked the boat, the views at sunset and the live jazz music was beautiful. The only downside is that you get on the boat at 18:00 and it doesn't leave until 19:00, it's a long wait.
  • Getting started

The Riverboat CITY of NEW ORLEANS welcomes guests aboard while the Steamboat NATCHEZ is not in operation. Cruise the mighty Mississippi for two hours, with live jazz, signature drinks, and incredible New Orleans scenery—especially from the newly enhanced top deck. After a brief introduction, you’re free to explore the vessel and settle in for departure.

    What to expect

This vessel continues the tradition of classic river cruising, offering a unique perspective on New Orleans’ riverfront and history.

    Features

    • Live Jazz music: Musicians will perform traditional jazz onboard, a hallmark of New Orleans culture and a highlight of every cruise.

    • Panoramic River views: Enjoy sweeping views of the Mississippi River and the city skyline from multiple decks as you cruise past popular New Orleans sites, including the Crescent City Connection and St. Louis Cathedral.

  • What to bring

    • Shirts and shoes are required on all cruises. While casual attire is fine, we recommend you turn up in “dressy casual” for the Dinner Jazz Cruise. Switch your jeans for some dress pants or a skirt and a blouse or a stylish top. Men can zhuzh it up with a collared shirt (button-down or polo).

    What's not allowed

    • This vessel is completely non-smoking, including all indoor areas and outer decks.

    Accessibility

    • This experience is wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible.

    • Your guide dogs are welcome at the venue.

    Additional Information

    • The Riverboat CITY of NEW ORLEANS is stepping in while the Steamboat NATCHEZ is currently not in service (until October 23, 2025). You’ll still enjoy the same two-hour river journey, complete with traditional live jazz, craft cocktails, and beautiful city views. Don’t forget to head up to the top deck for the best lookout point.

    • Boarding begins 30 min before departure. We recommend arriving at least 30 min early.

    • Those 21 years and older may purchase beverages after presenting a valid photo ID with birthdate as per Louisiana law.

    • Your voucher will be emailed to you instantly.

    • Please arrive at the boarding point 15 mins before the scheduled time of your visit to avoid any delays.

    • Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the boarding point.

    Boarding point

    • Board your cruise at Steamboat NATCHEZ.

    • Address: 400 Toulouse St, New Orleans, LA 70130, United States.
