This beautiful basilica is truly worth visiting! More than just a visit, it is an inner experience that allows you to truly feel the spirituality of the place. However, we had to work hard to visit it! We had booked tickets online with reserved access for 10:30 a.m., but when we arrived, there were lots of people there. When I pointed out to the staff that I had reserved access tickets, they replied that they were not valid because they had combined the queues, so everyone had to wait regardless of whether they had paid more for reserved access! Fortunately, we went to the office where we had picked up the tickets and they were very kind: they changed the day and time for us and in the end we were able to visit the Basilica.

Admission to St. Peter's Basilica is free, but the queue is endless. On site, "Skip the Line" tickets were offered for €25 each (including children). I googled and found Headout – I paid €42 for myself and my two children (instead of €75). Or rather, €0. The lady was a little hard to find—she was wearing a red jacket but with a different logo. The meeting point for picking up the online tickets (a slight contradiction) was a 5-minute walk away. We had to wait a short while, but in the meantime we were given a very nice, detailed explanation of the queue, etc., and had a short chat. Access (another 5-minute walk back to St. Peter's Square) took less than 15 minutes, including security checks.

This guide is well worth it!! I had been to St. Peter before (3-4 times) but when you have the background of every sculpture, painting, fixture, dome, column, etc... you understand the significance of every piece of art and also notice things you didn't before, it's fun to rediscover specific details that go unnoticed! Anyway, it made my visit very unique and I actually enjoyed seeing everything, took the time to admire what was being said and it made it worthwhile, whereas before Il'd just glanced through the basilica without inderstanding really what I was looking at! It was as absolutely worth the money... plus all the audios are in order so it makes it easier and smooth!

We arrived at St. Peter’s Square for the 2:30 p.m. tour, and even though the line for security seemed endless, it moved quickly: we were inside in about 40 minutes. I highly recommend starting with the Dome right away. We paid €10 for the elevator (a wise choice!), but be warned that the last 300 steps are narrow and steep: it’s a struggle, but the view of Rome leaves you speechless—it’s worth every penny! Once you come down from the dome, you enter the Basilica directly: it’s immense, a real shock in terms of how beautiful and well-maintained it is. We finished the tour by going down into the Crypts to see the tombs of the Popes. A complete and very evocative experience that takes up your entire afternoon.

As we were standing in line listening to the Guide my fiancee (who i had JUST asked to marry me IN the Sistine Chapel the previous Sunday before) turned to me and exclaimed as to how much she liked the information provided and in general HOW he did it and how "cute" this older gentleman was :) we LOVED the dome climb and using the elevator was the best call EVER!! OF COURSE the Basilica was STUPENDOUS (brought me to tears at one point) and the audio tour for it was helpful and informative. I will definitely be recommending you to friends that are visiting soon! Thank you and keep up the good work! Tom and Belinda

I assumed it was the original website of the basilica, it was very time consuming, telling you to go and meet one person at a certain destination, noone there, calling them, and getting cut off. Then telling you, you dont have to meet anyone. Rome is hard going with lots of walking, we were sent to four different places, just to be told, after a second phone call , it was actually, at the first place we were at originally. Very stressfull and unnecessary. Once inside, it is stunning and beautiful

I had an amazing experience touring St. Peter’s Basilica with Headout! From start to finish, everything was smooth and well-organized. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating stories about the history, art, and architecture of St. Peter’s Basilica that really brought the place to life. The tour was perfectly paced, giving us time to appreciate the breathtaking details—from Michelangelo’s stunning Pietà to the magnificent dome and the grandeur of the basilica itself. Having a guide made a huge difference because we learned so many things we would have missed exploring on our own. The booking process with Headout was easy, and the meeting point instructions were clear, which made the whole experience stress-free. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Vatican City who wants a deeper understanding of one of the most incredible landmarks in the world. Truly unforgettable!

I thought I would save time by buying this type of ticket, but with or without a guide, we would have spent the same amount of time in the queue (the guide had absolutely no way of saving us time) and we paid €10 more for admission to the Dome for no additional benefit compared to someone who queues normally and buys their tickets at the entrance to the Dome... with or without the elevator, since this option is also chosen on site. What's more, our guide didn't provide any relevant information but spent his time calling out to all the tourists around us (outside our group), sometimes shouting at them...

I went early the Booked Tickets/Skip the line to check my ticket on my phone was in order, but I was 'off line' very nice helpful lady had to organise this on my phone as your email to me was insufficient for admittance. I was in the queue from 12.30 with others, then we were told there was a hitch and we would only be admitted at 2.00 instead of 1.00 p.m. Eventually got through to entrance to St Peters to get audio guide. the Official said I could only get it through my phone, unless I was prepared to leave my passport behind to get an actual audio guide. No ways! But I loved visiting St Peters Basilica apart from all these hassles.
