Visiting the São Jorge Castle was a great history lesson about Portugal. The castle, situated high atop the hill, provides an amazing vantage point of the city of Lisboa. Purchasing our tickets via Headout allowed us to skip the long ticket queue at the castle entrance. However, we purchased the option that came with the audio guide (€23) and the audio guide is actually free for all via a QR code available upon entering through the turnstiles, so we could have saved €6. Headout, should update this option so others are not frustrated.

When we arrived, there was a long queue so we got tickets online. It was very easy and fast. This way, we were able to enter the castle right away without having to do tedious queues. The castle is beautiful, there are many spots where you can see a beautiful view of the city. It was a hot day but inside there is a small bar under the plants, where you can have a drink or ice cream to cool off..

The castle was very nice. It had some great views. Ticket redemption process was not as smooth as it should have been. There were others having the same issues. Tickets were not coming up. On our devices. When they did only one ticket would show and the others did not show. Had to use the email to redeem the tickets. Staff at the location was not helpful. It was a very nice experience once we got in.

Buy your tickets online and skip the queue! Also scan the app once inside to get your free audio on your phone. The views from the Castel were amazing. Incredible fortress in its day. Plenty of room to move around the grounds
