Our tour guide Ingrid was amazing! I took my mom here for her birthday as she was raised riding horses, and answered all our questions and was overall just an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge!

Our guide was fantastic and provided all the relevant answers to our questions. The stables are a dream—the whole atmosphere is, of course, unique, and the horses and their history—in terms of breeding, training, and care—are definitely worth mentioning. Not to mention the interesting explanations about the interaction between the riders and their assigned horses, and the bond that develops between horse and rider over a long period of time—which is, of course, the be-all and end-all. You really have to give these riders, who have undergone such long and rigorous training, the utmost respect. For us riders, a tour like this is, of course, a “must-do” and 100% worth recommending. Thanks to the whole team for the wonderful tour and the experiences that left us so inspired.

With her witty humor and charming dialect, the guide took my husband and me on our very first guided tour yesterday. She was actually able to answer all of the group’s questions and was a delightful experience in and of herself from start to finish. I already had a great deal of respect for this institution beforehand, and now I do even more—and as a horse lover, I thought it was simply fantastic! The hour flew by... Thank you so much again!

Isabell, our tour guide, explained everything wonderfully. We were able to ask questions, which she answered with expertise and charm, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the Spanish Riding School. The hour went by way too fast. But we’ll be back, and next time we’ll watch the work with the horses. Unfortunately, that demonstration was already sold out. Thank you! It was a pleasure!

A great tour of the Spanish Riding School. The young woman who guided us and explained everything was very friendly and had a lot to share. It offered a deep insight into both the history and the present. This tour is definitely worth taking. When else do you get the chance to get so close to the animals in the stable?

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided an insight into how the Stallions are bred, trained, determineed to be candidates for inclusion in the performing troup and their retirement. All in all it was a tour that surpassed ouxpectaqtions. This may ber the best buy of all of our travel adventrues in Europe this year.

Getting started

Arrive at the Visitor Centre at least 5 minutes before your tour begins. Exchange your mobile voucher for a physical ticket at the cashier’s desk (available up to 1 hour before start time), then meet your guide for a short introduction.

Spanish Riding School

This guided tour takes you behind the scenes of one of Vienna’s most enduring cultural institutions, where classical equitation has been practiced since the 16th century. You’ll explore the architectural spaces that support both daily training and ceremonial performances.

Inside the school

Winter Riding School: Enter the Baroque riding hall and learn how its proportions, symmetry, and light were designed specifically for classical dressage.

Summer Riding School: Visit the training area that houses one of the world’s largest oval horse walkers, offering insight into modern conditioning methods.
