We ended our last day in Vik with the Lava Show Immersive Experience and am so glad we didn't miss this! Enjoyable, informative and very toasty! Fascinating to watch Martin manipulate the lava. He's a natural teacher and storyteller. And great Katla story in the short video as well. Five stars!

I bez znalosti angličtiny je show zajímavá a v mnohém pochopitelná. Příjemná hodinka strašně rychle uběhne. Lehce matoucí je pro Evropany udávaná teplota lávy ve stupních Fahrenheita, ale výklad není nudný. K vidění je jak se láva chová, chladne a co vytváří když je přidán led. Uvidíte to k čemu vás nikdo nepustí tak blízko, pokud se jedná o přirozený výlev lávy. Doporučuji. Jan Frk

Get up close to real molten lava in the world’s only live lava show, where expert Lava Masters break down Iceland’s volcanic science in a safe, indoor setting.

Getting started

Arrive at the Lava Show venue at least 10 minutes early and check in at the entrance. Once seated, you’ll receive a short introduction before the experience begins. Guests seated downstairs are provided with safety goggles for added protection.

What to expect

This family-friendly indoor experience recreates a volcanic eruption using real lava heated to extreme temperatures. You’ll see molten rock flow, bubble, crackle, and cool while learning how Iceland’s geology has been shaped by centuries of volcanic activity.

Live lava demonstration: Watch real lava poured in front of you, safely controlled in a purpose-built indoor environment.

Expert-led storytelling: An experienced Lava Master explains volcanic processes, eruption history, and the science behind it with plenty of time for questions.

Educational intro: The experience begins with a short video exploring Icelandic volcanism and notable eruptions near the capital area.

What to bring

Plan to arrive around 10 minutes early so you can settle in before the show starts.

This is an edutainment experience, so feel free to ask questions during the show.

What’s not allowed

For safety reasons, touching the lava or entering restricted areas is not permitted.

The experience is not recommended for children under 5 years of age.

Accessibility

The Classic Experience is accessible for wheelchair users.

The Premium Experience is not wheelchair accessible, as it involves climbing stairs.

Additional information

Protective safety goggles are provided for guests seated downstairs.

An on-site café/bar offers a variety of drinks.
