    Great experience, great guides

Okay so I gotta say – this was WILD. Never thought I’d be swimming between tectonic plates, but here we are! My bf and I went for the morning slot and honestly, the water is like, shockingly clear. Like, your brain can’t even process it at first. The dry suit is a little awkward to get into (I had to wiggle like a worm lol) but the staff helped a ton. Shoutout to Jonas who kept cracking jokes to help us chill out. Cold? Yea, but not the way you think – my fingers tingled but my bod was fine. The only bummer: kinda crowded at the changing area and you can’t take your own pics underwater (they do it for u). But SO worth it.

Took my teenage son and honestly, he was more excited than me but we both LOVED it. The guides made sure everyone was comfy in the gear (which looks hilarious, by the way). It’s a pretty slow process getting everyone suited up, but you get to chat with people from everywhere which is fun. When you finally get in, it’s just magic. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I don’t even like cold water but this was honestly the COOLEST thing I’ve done. The dry suit keeps you so warm you forget you’re in Icelandic glacier water lol. Our guide, Marta, was suuuper patient. You can’t take your own photos while swimming (safety, I get it) but they send you awesome ones after. Go early if you can, it gets busy!

    What to expect

    Silfra Fissure

Silfra is a world-renowned snorkeling site, located in the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The glacial water, filtered through volcanic rock, offers visibility over 100 meters, making it some of the clearest water on the planet.

    • Certified guide: Explore safely with an expert who provides all instructions and ensures your comfort throughout the experience.

    • GoPro underwater photos: Receive complimentary digital photos of your journey, captured by your guide.

    • Premium equipment: Use a drysuit, thermal undersuit, fins, and mask for warmth and ease in the cold water.

    • Warm treats: Enjoy a Hraun chocolate bar and hot chocolate after your swim, included to help you warm up.

    • Secure storage: Personal belongings are safely stored while you snorkel.

  • What to bring

    • Bring thermal underwear (top and bottom), an extra pair of warm socks, and a change of clothes.
