Very well planned visit, adapting to the world in certain places, with lots of anecdotes and facts. I had the impression that we were going fast, but that's exactly what we needed, as the time was perfectly controlled over 3 hours. Friendly and enthusiastic guide with good knoweldge of the site and its history. Small group. Headphones worked fine. Well paced 3 hour tour taking in a good sample of the best sites to see in Pompeii. The Villa dei Misteri was a highlight for me with its set of frescoes showing a Roman woman's journey to marriage - life size paintings in very good condition. The tour inevitably left out other "must see" sites, so taking an early morning tour and then staying on for the rest of the day to do more exploring on your own definitely recommended. The restaurant at the top of the catering building in the middle of the site was very good - ignore the self-service queues and walk up to the restaurant - nice terrace with tables and views over Pompeii.

Our guide, Ana Sorrento from Aksos Tours was fantastic. She brought the whole thing to life for us. Pompeii was definitely a highlight for us and the Villa dei Misteri is so worth the extra time. Pompeii was beautiful and poignant. I couldn't believe how well preserved and large the site was. It was very easy to imagine what say to day life must've been like there, with the help of Ana's descriptions. Very hot and long day so be prepared. I'd advise taking a small face towel so that you can wet it and wipe yourself during the day to get some relief from the heat. Definitely take a hat, linen long sleeve shirt too.
