Architecture of power is, after all, designed to impress, and it usually succeeds in doing so. However, it’s important to keep the historical context in mind. In Berlin, we also have a number of colossal buildings from other regimes that are impressive at first glance and, at the same time, serve as reminders to uphold democracy and human rights as the highest values of civilization. I particularly liked how the poised lady who guided us through the building consistently placed the gigantism we were experiencing in its historical context in a clear and critical manner!

The experience fully met my expectations. I think a tour of Parliament is a “must” when visiting Bucharest. The areas we saw during the tour were very interesting, beautifully presented, and our guide was extremely clear and very helpful in answering our questions and addressing our curiosities. He was also very thorough in explaining how to behave inside the building (it is, after all, an institutional building). I highly recommend this experience.

The Parliament guide did a great job and shared a lot of interesting information about the history and the present day. The procedures for entering the building itself took longer than expected, but otherwise everything went smoothly for the group. The confirmation email contained all the information, but I hadn’t read carefully enough to realize that you’re not allowed to bring liquids into the building, so we were forced to throw away quite a few drinks we had with us in the heat. An interesting tour that I highly recommend!

I really liked the huge crystal chandeliers. They are beautiful and very impressive. The marble stairs and floors look amazing. The rooms are very large and elegant. I liked the detailed wooden doors and furniture. The carpets are huge and beautifully made. The high ceilings make the rooms feel even bigger.
