What a dilapidated minibus we were put in with windows hanging and dangling and shock absorbers that were worn out so you thought your last hour had come. I am 183 cm tall and normally built and my legs couldn't be there at all, there is so little space. At the top, the instructions themselves were given in an unclear language so those of us at the back of the bus didn't understand what the speed talk was about? Problems getting in past the guard because your paper ticket had to be used and not your app. blatantly strange. We were delayed 10 minutes out of the 25 minutes it took to get up, but we got up and enjoyed the view and then we had to rush down to catch the bus back - otherwise we had to buy a taxi which was also a tourist trap. I wonder what it would have cost us if we had come down too late? The descent... The bus driver drove down too fast in a curve so we tipped far to one side and almost fell over. So we sat there with our hearts in our throats thinking our lives depended on a driver who drove at a breakneck pace. But if nothing else the sun was shining and we had the most beautiful view of the whole place. That gives it three stars, everything else was just another tourist trap.Nicolas

The organization was perfect. The round-trip time between the bus parking lot and the cone of Vesuvius is correct. Only downside: the bus driver spends the whole trip on the phone, driving one-handed on very steep roads.
