Our guide, Renan Stein, was outstanding. He knew all the details and history of the monestary. He made the tour fun and exciting by engaging us in questions and having us find different aspects of the building, its symbols and architecture. This site is a must see for anyone interested in the history and culture of Portugal. We also spent time at the bakery tasting the unique Pastel De Belem pastry which can only be found at bakery next to the monastery. A thoroughly enjoyable 4 hours with Renan; i highly recommend recommend this tour.

Very well paced, humorous, well informed, carefully pitched presentation of main religious, historical and political aspects of the monastery. Entertaining and intriguing explanation of monastery adornments and structures. Could hear everything using ear pieces provided - very important to anyone with hearing loss. Excellent organisation before and during the tour. Strongly recommend our guide Joaon (John).

Our guide Joao was excellent. He spoke very good English, was very knowledgeable and showed and told us aspects of the manastery that we would never have discovered on our own. The added tour of Belém, the Duscuvery monument and the delicious Portuguese tarts he bought us really made it a wonderful experience. We highly recommend Joao as a guide. We learned so much.

Miguel Alves, our guide, explained the details and charm of the Jerónimos Monastery to us. The monastery is an architectural marvel, both upstairs and downstairs. Miguel Alves is a great guide who also later showed us the Monument to the Discoveries in Lisbon. We tried the pastries from Belém, which were wonderful, and I recommend the tour 100%.

The tour was simply fantastic. We had a great guide, Renan, who told us lots of interesting things and sharpened our eye for detail. Without him, the visit would never have been so exciting. The group wasn't too big and Renan involved everyone, it was really fun! I can absolutely recommend the tour. Thank you, Renan!

I have been on many tours all over the world and Jaio is the best tour guide out of all of them. He is very knowledgeable, with a sense of humor and very organized and professional. He even provided us with info and links after the tour. It was a great tour and one of the highlights of our trip.

We had a fantastic experience on the skip-the-line tour of Jerónimos Monastery, largely thanks to our guide, Francesco. Right from the start he remembered everyone’s name (a small thing that made a big difference) and set a relaxed, friendly tone. He encouraged questions throughout and was incredibly knowledgeable—every time someone asked something, he had a clear, interesting answer. I also appreciated that he gave us a few minutes to wander on our own, take it all in, and come back with questions he then answered straight away. The headphone system was a first for me and it was brilliant—crystal clear, easy to follow, and I didn’t miss a single detail (apart from his quick visit to the gents 😂). We also did the pastry tasting at Pastéis de Belém, which was a great add-on, and the tour wrapped up at Padrão dos Descobrimentos (the Monument to the Discoveries)—a perfect way to finish the experience in Belém. Highly recommended if you want to actually understand what you’re seeing and enjoy the monastery without the long wait(which on the day was very timely as it poured with rain just as we entered the Monastery).
