Watch how the insatiable desire for power brings an entire country to its downfall in Macbeth, playing at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London!

Why Watch Macbeth

William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" is a tragic drama. Here we meet Macbeth, a Scottish lord who is told by three witches that he would one day rule over his country as king. As his wife, Lady Macbeth, urges him on, Macbeth kills King Duncan and usurps the throne to fulfill his ambitions. But Macbeth's guilt and paranoia begin to overwhelm him, and as he seeks to keep his position and defend himself from those who would want to dethrone him, he spirals downhill into violence and slaughter. Macbeth's growing ruthlessness and tyranny push away friends and family and make enemies of everybody in his path. Unchecked ambition and guilt may have disastrous results, as explored in "Macbeth." Shakespeare examines issues of destiny and free choice, the corrupting impact of power, and the evil that may lie inside the human spirit via the character of Macbeth and the events of the play. The play remains one of Shakespeare's most popular and frequently-performed works and is widely regarded as a masterpiece of English literature.

Standing in The Yard , although tiring, was amazing. Seeing the actors up so close was terrific. The performance was first rate.

It was wonderful to return to the Globe after 23 years with my youngest (14). I encouraged her to try the yard to no avail! Needless to say it drizzled on and off and she was pleased with herself. We rented cushions which was neither here nor there for us. I recommend strongly for anybody to not only book through Headout (easy, efficient and saved money too!) but to also go and support live theatre. Our children here in the Caribbean still study Shakespeare and although my daughter had already studied Macbeth (as well as Romeo & Juliet, Taming of the Shrew and Twelfth Night to come) - the opportunity gave her a higher appreciation for The Bard, his works and how timeless human stories are. To top it off, the Tate Modern is conveniently a stone's throw and is easily perused before or after a show. Thank you, thank you Headout!

Ticketing was easy and the show was incredible. The intermission was a mess. No one seemed to be able to provide refreshments. The queue was impossible. Too bad about the jets overhead drowning out the actors but they coped well!
