It is a sharp and slapstick social satire that speaks to audiences all over the world. More importantly, La Cage aux Folles is about people who are kind, genuine, and unable to keep from being true to themselves. In the musical, two gay men try to pretend to be straight for the sake of their son, who is engaged to the daughter of a conservative politician who wants to ban drag clubs and anything deemed immoral.
