A gripping true-crime drama, KENREX in London revisits the real events surrounding Ken Rex McElroy and the Missouri town that chose to end his decade of violence.

    • Drawn from real events in Skidmore, Missouri, the story tracks the final days of Ken Rex McElroy and the town pushed to breaking point by years of intimidation.

    • Developed by Jack Holden and Ed Stambollouian, the team behind Cruise, the production pairs tight dramaturgy with a live Americana score by John Patrick Elliott.

    • Praised as a "play that grips like a true-crime podcast" (The Guardian), the production is noted for its theatrical craft and narrative precision.

    • This limited run places the action in the intimate Other Palace Theatre, which heightens the tension and clarity of the story. Book your tickets to KENREX in London!

    The story

KENREX play follows the escalating cycle of violence around Ken Rex McElroy, a man with a long record of intimidation, assault, and threats who avoided jail through legal loopholes. When he shoots local shopkeeper Bo Bowenkamp, the town fears there will be no justice. As tension rises, residents face an impossible question: what happens when the system cannot protect them? The play builds toward the town’s real-life confrontation with McElroy, leaving the audience to consider who holds power and what it costs to reclaim it.
