The Tower of London is absolutely stunning. It’s a beautiful building, both inside and out. You’re allowed to take photos everywhere except in the Crown Jewels section. It’s really wonderful to see all the jewels and regalia. There isn’t really a set route to follow, so you have to look around a bit to see everything. (A map made this easier.) Had a delicious meal at the café—great fish and chips and coffee.

Our visit to the Tower of London was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are steeped in history, and the view is stunning, offering a striking contrast between the historic, older part of the city and the modern part with its buildings. The tour of the Crown Jewels exhibition was absolutely beautiful and left us breathless.

Yesterday
A fascinating tour of the Tower - it brought history to live. We enjoyed the architecture and seeing where key figures, such as Anne Boleyn met their demise. The Crown Jewels were breath taking.

Easy entry with no problems or difficulties. A quick line, and then a self-guided tour inside, with the option to download the audio guide or pick up a device after waiting in another line.

Tower of London: Booking was very easy. I received a WhatsApp message with the tickets, and that was it. Super easy. There was no line on site, even though it was the Easter break. We spent a lot of time at the Tower of London because we listened to the audio tour. You can download it to your phone using a QR code. The code is right at the entrance, next to the maps. Don’t forget your headphones. During the day, the line for the Crown Jewels was about 30 minutes long. By evening, there was no one there anymore.

Aside from Headout: the prices for all attractions in London are way, way, way too expensive. It’s a shame how much they charge compared to what you get. With Headout, I did manage to get a reasonably acceptable deal for the Tower. Unfortunately, you do get misled. They promise you an audio tour, which turns out to be a link to an app that you can only download on an iPhone and that doesn’t even work. It feels like a scam. By the way, you can see the Tower just fine from the outside. Inside, it’s mostly armor and crown jewels, with very little information about the building itself. There’s also not much that’s interactive. But once you’re inside, you can easily spend a couple of hours there, which makes the Headout price acceptable. In any case, don’t buy tickets at the ticket office, and don’t eat at the food stalls around the Tower.

The Tower of London is great, of course. But the audio guide is only available for iOS, not for Android. So I had to buy an audio guide at the Tower. Unfortunately, I found out too late that the Tower also offers a free guide for smartphones. There’s a QR code posted at the entrance.

The three tickets included audio guides, but at the entrance they told us we had to pay for the three audio guides again, so we paid for them again—that was really rude of you.
