Having visited Pompeii a few days before we decided to do without a guide this time and just explore Herculaneum ourselves. It was so much more peaceful than Pompeii and the completeness of the buildings is amazing. You can really see what a beautiful place it would have been to live. We really enjoyed our visit here. Prebooking the ticket meant we just strolled straight in, which was great.

These tickets were a dream. I bought them online the night before, the tickets allowed us to enter Herculaneum at any point during the day. We arrived around 11.30am and we were straight through, no queues or waiting. I loved Herculaneum, it's so well preserved and is much smaller than Pompeii so is not as overwhelming. It is at the bottom of a hill so please be aware if you need to get back to the train station for a set time, it's quite a walk!

It was an incredibly beautiful day. Admission was uncomplicated and quick. There are several toilets and the small museum is great.

Loved Herculaneum. I have been to Pompeii twice and this visit just topped off my love for the history of Italy. Easy to navigate and amazing to see almost intact buildings. Only gripe was that I downloaded the audio and when I tried to listen it was in Italian (I know I would definitely have downloaded English). Close to the station as well for extra points!

Herculaneum is a place that makes an impression and stimulates the imagination. Not so long ago, all these buildings were located several meters underground. Today, they allow us to see with our own eyes what this ancient city really looked like. Most of the buildings presented here have been preserved in such good condition that walking the streets of Herculaneum, you can feel like you are in a real city where life still goes on. I will remember my time spent in Herculaneum for a very long time. Buying tickets via Headout allowed direct entry to the archaeological park.
