Our tour guide, Gianfranco, was extremely knowledgeable and charming. He had a light touch and was often quite amusing, but I was most impressed by his compassionate regard for the actual people who had been caught in the volcanic eruption. Going to both Pompeii and Herculaneum in a single day was a lot, but I was glad to have the information we had been given in Pompeii still fresh in my mind when we visited Herculaneum. I should also say that travelling with Headout from Naples was easy and convenient.

This was an extraordinary visit to an extremely well-preserved site, frozen in time. The survival of so many wooden artifacts—cots, room panels, and cupboards—brings the daily life of the era vividly to life. It is incredible to think that 80% of the ancient town remains buried beneath modern Ercolano.

When we bought the tickets for 4 people, we specifically asked for a French guide for Pompeii and an audio guide for Herculaneum!! Once we arrived, there was no French guide, even though we had paid €314 for our group. The system for Herculaneum was not at all up to our expectations. We are very disappointed with this experience and will not recommend your agency to our friends who are visiting next year.

Poorly communicated information about the buses, and rude people. They demand that you leave your passport in the hands of strangers to be allowed to follow the guide with the radio receiver to hear him. At least the guide, Francesco, is excellent.
