    Getting started

Meet your guide at a selected central Bucharest pickup point and settle into an air-conditioned minivan. After a brief introduction to the day’s route and stories, you’ll head north toward Snagov.

    Snagov Monastery

Set on a small island in the middle of Snagov Lake, this monastery is traditionally believed to be the burial place of Vlad the Impaler, the historical ruler who inspired the Dracula legend. Surrounded by forest and water, the setting feels removed from the city, adding to its mystique. Inside, you’ll learn about medieval Wallachia, monastic life, and how a 15th-century prince became one of literature’s most enduring characters.

    Slănic Prahova Salt Mine

Descend hundreds of meters below ground into one of Europe’s largest salt mines, where vast chambers open up beneath the surface. Carved entirely from salt, these galleries reveal both industrial history and striking underground architecture. The constant cool temperature and steady microclimate create a distinct atmosphere as you walk through immense halls once central to Romania’s salt production.

  • What to bring

    • A warm layer, as temperatures inside the salt mine remain around 12°C throughout the year.

    • Sturdy, comfortable shoes suitable for walking and navigating stairs underground.

    • Your smartphone along with personal earphones to access the multilingual audio guide.

    • Drinking water and any small personal items you may need during the 6–7 hour tour.

    What’s not allowed

    • Suitcases or oversized bags inside the salt mine.

    • Eating or drinking within the underground chambers.

    • Smoking in the vehicle or at any of the visited sites.

    • Damaging, carving, or interfering with the salt surfaces or monastery property.

    Accessibility

    • This tour is not ideal for guests with serious mobility concerns due to stairs and walking distances within the mine.

    • Some areas feature uneven ground and underground walkways that require stable footing.

    • Best suited for travelers comfortable with moderate physical activity.

    • Total duration is approximately 6–7 hours, subject to traffic and seasonal conditions.
