Written by husband-wife couple Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical is based on a true story. It succeeds to highlight the collective force of humanity, even in the direst of circumstances such as the tragedy of 9/11. With rousing music and evocative performances Come From Away pulls at the strings of audience member’s hearts.
Come From Away is based on a real-life incident during the 9/11 attacks in the US. When the government shut off the airspace, 38 passenger jets carrying over 7,000 passengers were stranded in the town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada. A heartwarming display of Canadian hospitality, this is the story of those passengers and their interactions with the townspeople during the traumatic events that affected all of America.
