Good meeting spot. Everything went smoothly at the entrance. As is well known, there are a lot of stairs. Some are very steep, but that’s part of what makes it interesting. Unfortunately, inside the dome, we were only allowed to walk quickly past the frescoes. The staff kept urging us to hurry, so make sure you have your camera ready—you’ll only be able to take quick snapshots. The view from the top of the dome is spectacular. It was well worth it.

The Duomo was incredible and we were able to see it because of Headout having the Brunelleschi pass available on late notice for a very reasonable price when most everywhere else was sold out. Our guide was punctual and everything went smoothly as expected.

Surely the best was to see Florenza! The true bonus is the up close view of the magnificent fresco on the dome ceiling. Definitely a must do activity so long as 463 stairs is no challenge!!

The tickets were just what we wanted. We got to climb to the top of the duomo and see some magnificent views of the city. It really is a trek and it's hot in there! Be cautious if you're not able to do that many stairs. The only thing I'll say is that the audio guide that came with it was lame... The worst audio guide I've ever had. 1-2 minutes of summary info for large spaces. Nothing special or interesting. It was not a value add. Also, I will note that the actual price of this ticket if you buy it direct is about a quarter of the price so you may try to buy it direct, in advance if you can. If not, then this is the next best option to secure your spot.

It was easy to find the girl who exchanged the vouchers for tickets within the timeframe and in the manner specified at the time of purchase. We got into the dome in just a few minutes; the line for the cathedral was a bit longer, but all in all manageable, and I’m satisfied with how it went. It’s worth noting that the lines for those with tickets and those without tickets are at different entrances.

What’s not allowed

Large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside the Complex. Please remember that there are no cloakrooms at the site.

Flash photography, tripods, filming equipment, food, and drinks are not permitted inside the Cathedral.

Pets (except service animals) are also prohibited.

Children under the age of 7 are not allowed to climb the Dome or the Bell Tower. Those between the age of 7-14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Accessibility

An accessible entrance is located on the right side of the Cathedral for guests with motor disabilities. The dome climb is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with motor disabilities.

Additional Information

The fee is only for the audio guide, since Cathedral entry is free.

The Cathedral is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday, 10:15am to 3:45pm. It remains closed on Sundays and during religious celebrations.

Entry is subject to a security check and dress code compliance (knees and shoulders must be covered. Sleeveless tops, short, and other revealing clothing are forbidden).

Download the audio guide to your phone before your visit. Mobile network access may be limited inside the Cathedral.

The complex’s staircases are narrow and steep, expect a physically demanding climb.
