Pompeii is definitely worth visiting. Its sad to think what had happened in the past but was unbelievable to see how its been returned and restored to show how the city and people lived back then. We had booked for early entry at 10.30 to tie in with transport and although we arrived an hour earlier we were still able to get in which was great. Being able to have the tickets in your Google wallet was great it made it so much easier and having pre-booked ment we were able to skip the massive queue. We would advise going early as 1. It was getting busier as the day went on and 2. It was getting hotter and hotter. We were only there for 3 hours and seen quite alot which was amazing and we both said we would go back to.

With the online tickets at 9:00 AM, we bypassed the queue and made it onto the grounds beautifully before the big rush. The self-guided tour at our own pace through the site impressed us very much! We marveled at the highly developed construction methods of the Romans and the way of life as it must have been around 79 AD. We got an idea of what the catastrophe surrounding the eruption of Mount Vesuvius must have meant for the people living there back then, and we were fascinated by how the ash preserved everything for posterity, like in a time capsule!

We were mislead by our cruise company , the excursion Pompeii on your own was anly a bus ride. This mean we had to get tickets on arrival. We booked them online whilst at the site, the purchase was straightfoward and the instructions clear. When we were not sure where to go, this was explained through text message and picking up the tickets was easy. The advice given regarding where to enter was super saving us lots of time waiting unnecessarily. What was potential disaster was avoided and time in the site was maximised.

The bus service from Alibus to the airport was fast and affordable. Great service. After booking, we were notified the location was in front of the Maratime carpark down by the port, which wasn't a problem but had we known the bus also stopped at the train station that would have suited ourselves a lot more but all in all great service. You really have to see Pompeii if you are in the area; its scale is incomprehensible. In my fantasy, I had expected more of those petrified people, but the times they were on display, it was very impressive. The only thing I found very disappointing is that we only found out once we were in the park that the villa costs extra to visit.

I visited the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, and I have to say it was an indescribable experience. I didn’t expect such a vast and well-preserved city; it really feels like stepping back in time 2,000 years. Walking through the original streets, entering the houses, the baths, and the Forum is something that leaves you speechless. You can sense the daily life of the Romans in every detail, from the frescoes and mosaics to the inscriptions on the walls. The site is enormous, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and setting aside at least 4–5 hours. I found everything very well organized, with clear maps and extremely kind and helpful staff. The most moving moment was seeing the casts of the victims and the Amphitheater. It’s an experience I recommend to everyone—Italians and foreigners alike—at least once in a lifetime. A heritage site unlike any other in the world. I’ll definitely be back to see the newly reopened domus!
