These spectacular 16th-century castles are among the must-see attractions you shouldn't miss if you're in the region. The wines from Chambord are also superb.

A magnificent castle, a printed guide, explanations in the rooms, and amazing augmented reality... maybe they could add an immersive experience with a virtual reality headset

A wonderful experience—easy admission with no waiting. The castle is magnificent, grand, and perfectly proportioned; for a day, I imagined what life would be like in a royal court.

The trip through the Loire Valley was wonderful. We visited the Château de Chambord on the second day, and we were pleasantly surprised—it's definitely worth it.
  • These tickets are valid until 14 Aug, 2027.

  • Step into Chambord, a masterpiece of French Renaissance architecture. Explore its grand halls, marvel at its intricate towers, and walk through its sprawling parkland.

    Getting started

Arrive at the Chambord Castle and head straight to the entrance after security checks. Your ticket skips the long ticket office lines but note that standard security screenings still apply. Have your ID ready for validation, then pick up a free visitor’s guide or watch a 20-minute film to set the scene for your visit.

    What to expect

Chambord is the Loire Valley’s largest chateau, built by François I as a symbol of power and heavily inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s vision.

    Features

    • Double-helix staircase – A genius design where two people can use the staircase without ever crossing paths.

    • 400 rooms, 365 fireplaces, 80+ staircases – A grand display of opulence and royal ambition.

    • Panoramic terraces – Stunning views of the chateau’s architecture and the vast park.

    • 5,000-hectare park – One of Europe’s largest enclosed forests, home to diverse wildlife.

    • Temporary exhibitions – Access to rotating cultural displays is included in your ticket.

  • Accessibility

    • The ground floor is accessible to people with limited mobility. However, there is no elevator serving the first and second floors.

    • Guide dogs are allowed through the entire estate.

    Additional information

    • There is low connectivity within the castle; download your tickets in advance.

    • Pets are not allowed inside the castle, gardens, and stables; they are in the park, on a leash.

    • Since this is a historic site, certain rooms are exceptionally closed to visitors.

    • Autumns and winters are exceptionally cold inside the castle. Plan accordingly.

Entrance to the castle and gardens is free for:

    • Children under 18 years old with family accompanied by an adult on an individual visit (on presentation of proof of identity).

    • European Union nationals under 26 years of age on an individual visit (on presentation of an identity document and a European Union residence permit)

    • For organized groups, admission is free from November to February for 6-17 year olds and 18-25 year olds from the European Union. From March to October, a reservation fee of €3 per person applies for these two categories.

    • Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
    • Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point.
    • Please check your final voucher for the starting point details & specific instructions.
