Entry was quick and efficient. The histopad was such a great way to enhance the visit and learn loads of history in a fun, interesting way. Chateau de Chambord is an architectural feast on the eyes and the very unusual double helix staircase was something special. I loved it.

Chambord Castle and Amboise were great; smooth visit. An iPad is provided for the tours and included in the admission price. On the other hand, at Chenonceau, the iPad costs €5 even though admission to the castle is the most expensive of all! Plus, it's hard to get around when several groups of 30 people arrive at the same time! There should be specific time slots for groups for better organization. Booking was very easy. That way, we were able to get inside quickly, without any waiting time. A remarkable castle with lots of rooms to see, all beautifully decorated as well—a truly wonderful experience.

The castle is truly fantastic. The interiors are well restored and you can see a lot of antique furniture and items, which is not the case in all castles. The gardens are spacious and not as spectacular as those of other castles. There are many stairs to climb; you need to be good on your feet. The Historypad provided additional insights into what life in the castle used to be like. The treasure hunt is nice, and especially interesting for children. The castle is definitely worth a visit.

It was a spectacular visit because of its grandeur, its state of preservation, and how beautiful everything is. I was also surprised by the accessibility of almost all the rooms—there are very few areas restricted to the public, and I managed to transport myself back in time and imagine myself as the lord of the palace... hahaha. Magnificent Castle!!!!! A bit of a labyrinth!! But extraordinary to visit!! Just the tablet guide is not easy to navigate with... and expensive too!! Because the day ends up being costly........ very beautiful walk in the gardens. Kind regards

Hassle-free entry, but the castle's audio guide, which was very heavy and bulky, is terrible and completely useless. Otherwise, this castle is unique for its architecture and the elegance of its spectacular roof!!!

Getting started

Arrive at the Chambord Castle and head straight to the entrance after security checks. Your ticket skips the long ticket office lines but note that standard security screenings still apply. Have your ID ready for validation, then pick up a free visitor’s guide or watch a 20-minute film to set the scene for your visit.

What to expect

Chambord is the Loire Valley’s largest chateau, built by François I as a symbol of power and heavily inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s vision.

Accessibility

The ground floor is accessible to people with limited mobility. However, there is no elevator serving the first and second floors.

Guide dogs are allowed through the entire estate.

Additional information

There is low connectivity within the castle; download your tickets in advance.

Pets are not allowed inside the castle, gardens, and stables; they are in the park, on a leash.

Since this is a historic site, certain rooms are exceptionally closed to visitors.

Autumns and winters are exceptionally cold inside the castle. Plan accordingly.

Entrance to the castle and gardens is free for:

Children under 18 years old with family accompanied by an adult on an individual visit (on presentation of proof of identity).

European Union nationals under 26 years of age on an individual visit (on presentation of an identity document and a European Union residence permit)

For organized groups, admission is free from November to February for 6-17 year olds and 18-25 year olds from the European Union. From March to October, a reservation fee of €3 per person applies for these two categories.
