What the Constitution Means to Me Tickets

Duration

1 hr 30 mins

Watch this witty and highly personal play that enunciates how our founding documents can shape the future of American women. Join Heidi Schreck on her journey through teenage and adulthood as she showcases the incredible impact the constitution had on women.

  • A two-time Obie Award-winning actor, and an experienced playwright, Heidi Schreck has worked with several plays in the past. Her work includes There Are No More Big Secrets, The Consultant, and Creature. What makes her performance in this play so captivating is that it is completely anti-theatrical. There is barely any vibe of show-business in the play. Aside from the times when she is clearly reenacting a past memory, Heidi doesn’t seem to be putting on a show at all. She merely acts as a facilitator, making sure she always addresses the audience in a very personal manner. This is a very refreshing way to enjoy a play and will make you truly connect with Heidi as she goes on a journey of self exploration.

    The Story

‘What the Constitution Means to Me’ revolves around Heidi Schreck’s real-life experiences from when she was only 15 years old. She brings her teenage self back to life in this play, to explore the impact of the U.S.Constitution on women’s bodies. You will hear tales of Heidi’s mother, grandmother and her great-great-grandmother as well. You will also hear about Asa Mercer, a man who supposedly made a plan to trick women into moving to the west, selling them stories of living independent lives. The play takes you on a voyage that explores several fascinating cases that were brought to a halt due to the inefficiency of the constitutional machinery. The play blows a breath of fresh air on the founding document of the nation and shows how it can mould the future of American women.

It turned out to be convenient and a little cheaper than other providers for tickets I bought a couple days before the show.
