The story

Set high in the Tyrolean Alps, La Fille du Régiment tells the tale of Marie, an orphan raised by a French army regiment, whose world turns upside down when Tonio, a Tyrolean soldier, falls for her and the upper-class Marquise of Berkenfeld arrives to whisk Marie away.
