Witness the rise of six aviators, as they embark on a journey to become airmen in the United States Air Force. Delve into the story of the men who beat overwhelming odds against them with their desire to excel and break barriers!
In a time of rampant racial discrimination against African Americans, six men come together to take part in the Army Air Corps program. The group included instructors, navigators, bombardiers, instructors and support staff, who were charged with operating combat aircraft and keeping it in the air. Will these brave aviators overcome discrimination and debunk the myths regarding their patriotism and intelligence?
Director Layon Gray is a well-known playwright and director in theater, particularly for his work on African-American themes and subjects. Black Angels Over Tuskegee explores the inhuman Jim Crow laws and how the system of racial segregation affected African Americans. Gray brilliantly captures the dreams of the patriotic Tuskegee Airmen for a more inclusive society, one that promotes brotherhood regardless of the color of one’s skin.
