What a wonderful day! Our guide was Sissi—a delightful, friendly, kind, and helpful person. Sissi gave us so many explanations. Even though it was a long day—11 hours—it was so well organized, with two rest stops (on the way there and back), that we really enjoyed our visit to Meteora. Visiting Meteora is highly recommended. It is a beautiful place, full of charm and even a touch of spirituality. The excursion is very well organized, with time to see the two monasteries and a viewpoint. There is time to eat at the Meteora Panorama restaurant, which has a terrace that we were able to enjoy thanks to the good weather. I ordered a delicious moussaka. Both on the way there and on the way back, there is a stop to use the restroom and have a drink. Although it is an 11-hour excursion, I didn't find it tedious at all. The visit to monasteries is stunning and the landscape view is amazing.

What to bring

Footwear: Wear supportive, closed-toe shoes with a solid grip for uneven paths and steps.

Water and snacks: Carry a refillable water bottle and a light snack, especially from June to August.

Dress code: Dress modestly. Men must wear long pants; women must cover shoulders and wear skirts below the knee.

What’s not allowed

Indoor photography: You can take photos outdoors, but do not photograph inside chapels or any monks and nuns without clear permission.

Drones: Do not use drones without prior authorization, as Meteora is a protected area.

Accessibility

Wheelchair access: Meteora's terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs, with stairs and sloped paths at every monastery.

Easier access option: If you have limited mobility, consider St. Stephen’s Monastery, which has a paved path and fewer stairs.
