Rembrandt House Museum

After Rembrandt married Saskia van Uylenburgh, they moved into their own place in the upscale Amster Breestraat (Broadway), today known as Jodenbreestraat, in 1639. Experience Rembrandt's life as if you were there - The Rembrandt House Museum is a unique place that transports you back in time to Rembrandt's humble abode on Jodenbreestraat. Explore the intimate setting and discover the man behind the masterpieces. Immerse yourself in his world and be captivated by the stories of his life, which continue to inspire visitors to this day. The Rembrandt House Museum offers an unparalleled opportunity to get up close and personal with the legendary artist himself. It would be in this house that Rembrandt would paint some of his most famous works, including The Nightwatch. The house features authentic period rooms that have been restored to their original state, giving visitors a glimpse into the daily life of Rembrandt and his family.

What's New?

The Rembrandt Open Studio residency transforms Rembrandt's historic home into a vibrant hub of creativity. Each autumn, two talented emerging artists are granted the unique opportunity to produce new works within the hallowed halls of Rembrandt's former residence. Over a two-month period, these contemporary artists set up their studios in one of the museum's exhibition rooms, fostering an inspiring environment for the creation of cutting-edge art. Come face-to-face with Rembrandt’s iconic painting of his son Titus from the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The masterpiece is back to the place where it was created after nearly 400 years!

Did not receive the tickets as promised, status kept being "pending". We had to contact the Support Team who luckily were able to solve the problem at last. Being able to contact the Support Team by chat is very convenient in situations like this, where our tickets were purchased 2,5 hours before the visit

Great house- good audio guide. The guide did not work very well at first. When you reach the glass door which is the entrance to the museum, you need to tell people to scan THE TICKET as many people were trying to use their phones to scan and then could not enter. But the man in charge of the audio machines was very good and sorted everything out quickly. The gift shop was excellent- very good quality gifts- the best to be found in Amsterdam. Staff were lovely and welcoming.

The museum is not big, but is well organized and the audio guide tells everything. The history by that time. I would like to see more of the paintings itself
