The pass is only valid for the metro, tram, and bus, not for trains. Once we figured that out, we had no trouble getting around. You just exit through the corresponding gate with your ticket. So, only the door marked with an “M” for metro—even though the one right next to it looks exactly the same. The fact that you always have to show all the QR codes for every single passenger when boarding and exiting is a bit of a hassle and takes some getting used to. But it’s not just for holders of this ticket. In any case, it made our transfers much easier.

We stayed at a hotel just outside the city center and booked a 24-hour GVB ticket. The great thing was that, in addition to the trains, we could also use the ferries, and everything went smoothly. We highly recommend booking the GVB ticket for visitors to Amsterdam.

Easy to book and saved in my wallet. Worked flawlessly at all stations. The activation time was accidentally (or due to a system error) set to 15 minutes after our intended time, which was in the past. No big deal—we just had to wait 2 minutes at the gate, :-)

We bought two tickets online for two days of unlimited travel. We had no trouble finding our way around; everything is really well signposted. The metro line we needed ran very frequently. We never had to wait more than 3 minutes anywhere. The only downside: the QR code on our phone to open the metro gates didn’t always work, so we had to try several times or quickly go through two at a time.

I was only looking for directions on how the ticketing system worked for trans in Amsterdam and your site came up. Looked interesting since we wanted to visit the Rijksmuseum. Process was very complicated since I already have way too many apps in the phone and most likely will never ever be in Amsterdam again. After a couple of hours we did finally get the scannable tickets.

The servcice is very good. The frequency is excellent. But, the trams are packed to overflowing. The system needs some further thought - perhaps fewer motor cars, perhaps more trams or an additional carriage, or ... perhaps the number of tourists needs to be reduced.

The purchase went smoothly, and you could take the tram and scan your ticket at the scanner when boarding. The return trip was no problem either. Great!

We had tickets for public transportation in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the train from Halfweg (where the Amsterdam Outlet is located—which is why I was misled) to Amsterdam Central Station wasn’t included. So I had to buy separate tickets for the return trip. The next day, I was a bit wiser and found a Park & Ride lot, and we took the S-Bahn. The nasty surprise came afterward. Parking cost nearly €24 for about 6 hours, and when I asked via the contact function on the machine, I was told I needed a physical card—the online booking wasn’t enough to get a parking discount. For the total amount of money I spent, I could have just as easily driven my car to a parking garage in Amsterdam. On the positive side, the trains, platforms, and stations are clean, and the trains run on time.
