! Do not take this tour if you’ve no interest in hearing about the sad past of the country. I read reviews about this great tour and decided I’d give it a whirl, but people conveniently skipped out the part where we are expected to wait in a HUGE boarding line onto the ferry. I almost waited for 45 minutes with my bad knee. And the place is super crowded, there are people EVERYWHERE. If anyone else has claustrophobia, I’d suggest you skip this trip.

My husband and I were visiting New York for the first time and went to the 911 museum first. After that we decided to take a ferry to say hi to Lady Liberty, and it was a great experience altogether. My favourite part was the Ellis Island Museum; I know most people say it’s rather boring, but it’s important to connect with our roots. Altogether, it was a fun experience; everyone around us was friendly and the tour was entertaining.

I had plans of touring around the Statue of Liberty alone but decided I’d tour around the Ellis Island as well. The audio guide gave me a detailed idea about how the poor felt when they first came here, seeking to start over in a new place. Everything about the place was captivating; right from the audio-visual treat, the super helpful staff (are they trained on this, btw? I asked 2 of them a few unravelling questions, and they seemed to know their way around! VERY impressed) and ever-so-beautiful view! My least favourite part was taking the ferry ride back (and believe me, I waited for the last ride out). I would definitely recommend this tour to others, it is so important to get in touch with our past. Besides, Lady Liberty never looked so good. Also, the view of the harbour and skyline are simply mesmerizing.
