Written and performed by Drew Droege, best known for his films such as Stallions de Amor and The Circle, the acclaimed comedy Bright Colors and Bold Patterns returns to Broadway this November! Voted Best of the Year by both Timeout and Buzzfeed, this hilarious play is every bit satisfying. Grab a pre-show Margarita at the theater’s bar and let the fun begin.
Why Watch Bright Colors and Bold Patterns
Why Watch Bright Colors and Bold Patterns
The 70-minute long diatribe performed by the one man army — Drew Droege — has an edgy, stand-up comedy vibe. The play questions the struggle for equality faced in an energy-packed, riotous story, backed up with a montage of alcohol, dance and its after-effects. Droege’s attempt at maintaining a balance between sassy and nasty will definitely keep you smiling, if not laughing, until the very end.
The Story
Gerry hears that his friends, Josh and Brennan, are about to get married on a lovely Sunday afternoon; but, instead of jumping in joy, he’s seen fuming at the one sentence mentioned on their invitation: “Please refrain from wearing bright colors or bold patterns”. The night before the wedding becomes a debauched evening full of alcohol and drugs with the arrival of their friend Gerry, who is aghast with the note on the invitation. In a comic struggle for equality, must a person always abide by cultural norms? And also, is there any cocaine left?
