A city that traces it's rich history back to antiquity, Rome is home to historic attractions and cultural landmarks on almost every street. On this free English guided walking tour of Central Rome, you will be accompanied by an expert historian-cum-guide who will accompany you to the most iconic spots in the Eternal City.

Meeting Point

This walking tour begins at the iconic Spanish Steps. Here, you will find your guide waiting for you at the bottom of the steps, next to the Acqua di Parma shop. You can then join the small group and begin your walking tour of Rome.

Sights Covered

The tour begins at the Spanish Steps. The 174-stepped monumental structure was built in the 18th century and it connected the Holy See at the bottom of the steps to the Bourbon Spanish Embassy and the Trinità dei Monti church at the top - thus the name. The hustle of the tourists and locals going about their daily business at the Spanish Steps paints the perfect picture for contemporary Rome.

The tour then heads to the famed Trevi Fountain - the largest Baroque fountain in Rome and the easily one of the most popular in the world. You can partake in the age old ritual of throwing a coin into the fountain to harness good fortune. An estimated €3,000 is thrown into the fountain every day.

After the Trevi Fountain, your guide will lead you to one of the oldest and most iconic buildings left standing in Rome - the 2,000 year old Pantheon. The Pantheon is a mere 10-minutes walk from the piazza and makes for the perfect second stop. The Pantheon was built as a temple by Emperor Hadrian and has since been converted to a church. This also makes it one of the oldest buildings still in use.

The tour finally concludes at Piazza Navona - an ancient part of Rome that traces its history back to the 1st century. The square stands on the site of the former Stadium of Domitian, built by Emperor Domitianus. Piazza Navona, even to this day, resembles the form of the stadium's open space and you can easily make out the tracks where races were held. The square also houses the Fountain of Four Rivers and a giant Egyptian obelisk.
