The card really is for unlimited transportation. No one ever asked for a ticket. As far as discounts go, you did get them at some places like the Ferris wheel and the wax museum. But for the more expensive places, like Schlobrunn Palace, it didn't work. You had to buy combined tickets to get a discount.

We were with our German visitors (nephew with children) in the Prater and later in the technical museum, as the 10-year-old boy in particular is a technology freak and railroad fan. The option of using only public transportation was used 100 percent and to everyone's satisfaction. A great service!

The Vienna Card is quite difficult to access in the app. Unfortunately, I hadn't found the description of what you can expect under audio guide before.... I thought there would be a few audio guide options at the sights...I didn't expect it to only work for guided tours. It is also very difficult to find out who offers which discounts apart from the public transport ticket...a search function in the app, preferably also on a map, would be much more helpful than a blunt listing on the website (where you can filter, but if you want to look at details of the location, you have to scroll back to the top).

Audio guide is great. The issue was with downloading my voucher and code. It would be technically so much easier to just send this at the time of purchase. As a result my wife simply purchased a physical at a machine in the HBH on arrival.

After setting up the ticket on the cell phone finally worked, it was a matter of chance to find the providers that recognize the Vienna Card. The highlights, like Schönbrunn, were outside the Vienna Ticket.
