Anna, our tour guide, was fabulous. Not only did she know all the details about Versailles but history, too, things I did not know. She maneuvered our group perfectly to find spaces where we could gather to listen to her insights. She was so friendly and kind. She really brought the Palace to life for us. Thanks, Anna! With the audio guide, you can go at your own pace. Every room is beautiful. Time seems to stand still here. My favorites are the King’s and Queen’s bedrooms, the Armory, the Hall of Mirrors, the Hall of Arts, the Hall of Wars… all of them! At the end, don’t forget to have a cup of coffee or tea. You’ll be able to say you spent tea time at the Palace.

It was a wonderful experience, but you should know that you won’t be able to see everything in the gardens if you walk through them, since there’s so much to see and it takes a whole day to see it all. So be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring a hat if it’s sunny, and a bottle of water (there are taps with fresh water to stay hydrated).

The visit to Versailles was nice. Although we had expected to see a few more furnished rooms. It was very crowded, though, so you have to be patient. The gardens are definitely worth a visit. You can take a long walk there and discover something new here and there.

The visit was cut short by two and a half hours by the museum. We did not get any notice tht they had made an announcement earlier in the day? we do not know when they actually posted their announcement that they were closing early due to the red heat advisory. This impacted our visit because we did not adjust to find the highlightss important to us and were cut off from the gardens. So we did not get to experience the full inclusion of the park.

The tour itself was really nice. The group entrance, of course, was excellent. The only downside: some of the headsets didn’t work—my wife’s only worked about 20 percent of the time. There were no replacements available... Also, it wasn’t always easy to keep up with the otherwise very nice guide because he didn’t wait for us at times...

The Palace of Versailles is beautiful and well worth a visit. I’ll just mention two areas for improvement: there were very long lines that weren’t very well organized, which meant we ended up entering later than expected and in the rain, even though we had arrived with plenty of time to spare. I didn’t find the audio guide very good; I’ve had better experiences at other museums where the guides were more user-friendly and better organized by section. Otherwise, everything was beautiful.

Even with staggered timed entry, the crowding in the rooms was unbearable and spoilt the experience. Many smaller rooms were empty of any furnishings except for framed pictures on the walls. The skip the line tickets did not work and we had to wait half an hour after our planned time to enter. The building is magnificent but the crushing crowds spoilt it.

Communication was not clear, probably on my part. We thought we were meeting a guide, but it was fine. Once we figured out that the passport tickets were in an email and we sent that email to my daughter who had internet, we were able to show the tickets at the gate within the time frame for getting in. We had to pay an extra few Euros to go the gardens.
