First when Mom Carol came out to speak to us was touching. Then the bouncy ride thru the sand was great. Mike our guide was perfect for me because he was all about getting the right picture. I could go all day with him, and learn so much. It was also my birthday and the perfect way to spend part of my day!

I initially liked how easy it was to order tickets online and then upon arrival how easy it was to show the ticket and get confirmation for the tour . We had an exceptional tour guide , I think his name was Tony . He explained everything about the formation , colors and how the level of the sand goes higher and lower with the rains . Besides Tony’s attitude, it was awesome that he adjusted phone cameras to adjust for the dark inside the canyon and took pictures for the crowd with their cameras and explained how the lighting works with certain pictures .

From the moment we were in the guides hands we were all in AW. When we decended and walked the cut the beauty was amazining and hard to describe. It was also very helpful that the guide offers his assistance in setting the right settings on your phone/ camera to capture the beauty. Not only did we learn about how the canyon cut was formed but also about the native americans in the region. Very informative tour and having done both the upper and lower canyons we definatly prefer the lower.

The staff at Ken's Tours were all very polite and clear about when the tour would start and where we should wait. Our guide, Vanessa, was excellent-- she provided background and interesting information about the canyon and was diligent about pointing out good photo opportunities. She also voluntarily took photos of many of the participants.

We arrived almost an hour early, and they put us in the group ahead of us. The organization was very good, and the tour with the guide was great. He took his time, explained a few things to us, and took photos for those who wanted them!

This was truly an amazing experience. An adventure, a cultural experience, a step outside normal perhaps, but a little beyond just seeing an amazing canyon. I appreciated being inside Navajo lands especially as something I felt honored to experience. Our guide played his drum and sang, he gifted us with his insights and incredible humor, and tolerated our clumsiness and ridiculous selfies and helped us with our vanities and selfish needs. He pointed out figures such as "the red lady", "the longhorn", and "the upside down feather", which gave me insight into his perceptions and desire to share them with us. I do recommend preparing yourself for heat and a long uphill hike out of the cavern area at finish if you're 50+ like me. I am in good shape but I nearly passed out on the uphill climb afterwards trying to keep up with the group. It was such a great experience, I look forward to return and see the other sections of the cavern.
