The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis as they're officially known, are a naturally occurring display of various colored lights, in high latitude locations. They form when solar winds disturb the Earth's magnetic field. Your four hour, evening tour begins with pick up from either your hotel or a central spot in Reykjavik. Once everyone in the party is picked up, you will begin your expedition into the countryside to search for the Northern Lights, leaving behind the capital and its light pollution that makes it so difficult to view the lights from there.
An expert on the Northern Lights will be joining you on the bus tour after having spent the better part of several hours reading up on weather reports and maps to pinpoint the location from where the lights are best seen. The expert will share plenty of facts and background on the lights until you stop at the perfect spot for your viewing.
You will also get the chance to visit the Aurora Reykjavik Museum, an educational and interactive space that uses advanced technology to bring the Northern Lights to you. The highlight of the museum is the experience room where you can marvel at a large HD projection of the Aurora Borealis' majestic green glow.
You will have plenty of time to stop and admire the incredible spectacle of the lights and maybe even take a picture of this once-in-a-lifetime experience! .
Please note: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and as part of nature, uncontrollable. The supplier does not offer refunds for customers that have joined the tour but instead offers you the chance to reschedule for free on the next tour that is operated.
