Our tour guide Alan was excellent. He made us feel comfortable to ask questions and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. The Capuchin (bone) Crypt was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen - unusual, a bit macabre while reminding us of our own mortality. The Catacombs were amazing, the history AD and BC was mind blowing! No photography was allowed here but the memories will remain strong nevertheless. I would fully recommend this tour, one of the best I have been on - provided by City Wonders.

The Capuchin Crypt was a most interesting experience. After seeing the over-the-top floor to ceiling art of the Vatican and other galleries, the simplicity of the art created with the bones of deceased monks was delicately beautiful. The way the exhibit is set up helps guide the visitor slowly through the history of the monks and helps them to appreciate what they are about to see once they get to the actual crypt. It is a soothing perspective on death and our purpose. Would definitely recommend it to others.

The audio tour takes you on a beautiful journey through the history of the Capuchins and their role in the city of Rome. It is a wonderful introduction to the shocking and fascinating crypts, where you learn to see transience and the beauty of death through the eyes of Francis. We concluded our visit with a tour of the adjacent church. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. No photos, because you have to see it for yourself!

A really interesting visit, which I highly recommend. The audio guide is very well done and enjoyable. The visit takes about an hour and, in addition to the crypt, there are many interesting things to see in the area leading up to the entrance to the crypt itself. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

I liked what I saw, but I feel that there were a couple of things that weren't fully explained when I purchased the package. I arrived at nine o'clock as instructed, but the tour actually started later and they made me watch a video which, although entertaining, could have been shown closer to the start time. They told me that the bus would pick us up at the door of the premises, but in the end we had to walk about 10 minutes to where it was parked. Then we got on a bus where they told us a little about what we were seeing, but it was hard to hear because they didn't have a microphone and you couldn't hear anything on the cobbled streets. When we arrived at the catacombs, the girl from the agency left us with the tour guide there. I found her very informative; she knew a lot, although she made a rather unfortunate comment about Renaissance paintings and how the change to white skin looked "better." They picked us up and took us back to where we had taken the bus. From there, you had the option of taking the tourist bus, which was free for three hours, to get to the other part of the tour, which was the Capuchins. The Capuchins close for about three hours at noon, which they don't tell you, and you have to kill time from around 12:00, when they drop you off in the city, until 3:00, when you can continue the other part of the tour. There was a mother with her son who had to get back to the plane and couldn't finish the tour because of this. This tour was with a guide, without anyone else, which surprised me since the girl at the agency had told me that someone would accompany you while you visited... I feel like I could have done both things on my own and it would have cost me a fraction of the money, since the guided tour of the catacombs is free!

**A Truly Unforgettable Experience – Thanks to Our Guide, Allen** I booked the *Capuchin Crypt + Catacombs Tour with Transfers* expecting an interesting morning, but it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my entire trip. The sites themselves are extraordinary, but what elevated the tour to another level entirely was our guide, Allen. From the moment we met him, Allen set the tone with his warmth, professionalism, and incredible depth of knowledge. His commentary wasn’t just informative—it was captivating. He wove history, culture, and human stories together so vividly that the past genuinely felt alive around us. The way he explained the symbolism, traditions, and historical context of the crypts and catacombs added layers of meaning I never would have discovered on my own. Allen struck the perfect balance between reverence for the sites and engaging storytelling. He answered every question with patience and insight, and his passion for the subject matter was infectious. I left feeling not only informed, but genuinely moved. The transfers were smooth and well‑organised, making the whole experience effortless from start to finish. But truly, it was Allen who made this tour exceptional. If you’re considering this experience—do it. And if you’re lucky enough to have Allen as your guide, you’re in for something special.
