Why Visit Stonehenge
An abundance of theories surround Stonehenge; from the belief that it is a religious temple to an astronomical clock and even a Bronze Age burial ground! Built between 3,000 BC and 1,600 BC, this monument of the ancient world is one of the marvels of the era. The Stonehenge reaches the maximum height of 13 ft, twice as tall as a fully grown human being.
What makes the Stonehenge particularly interesting is not just its shape and positioning (which is believed to have some astronomical association), but the presence of several ritualistic burial sites along with artifacts dating back to the neolithic age.
Most importantly, no trip to England is complete without a visit to the Stonehenge.
Board a luxury A/C coach in London and sit back to enjoy the picturesque English countryside in all its splendor. Drive into the mesmerizing Salisbury plains and your destination awaits - the Stonehenge.
Gaze in awe at the magnificent stone rings standing in front you. Standing there for around 5,000 years, the Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the British prehistoric era. Did a half day bus tour and completely enjoyed the 2 hours I spent at the Stonehenge! I had great expectations since I wanted to come here from when I was a child. I was not disappointed. Obviously travel time needs to be factored in since it's almost 2 hours each way from London. If you are able I do recommend walking back to the visitors centre as you gain further appreciation for the landscape. The walk is about 30 minutes. Strongly recommend for the kid in everyone!!
We were on a bus tour and therefore had a free shuttle to the stones from the car park. otherwise its a long long walk from either the road or car park. OK to walk if its a nice day but awful when rainy like we had. There is a huge gift shop with free clean rest rooms. It was everything expected and more due to the size of the stones and overall construction.
Headout has great service!
