Comparing my visits between Pompei and Herculaneum .. Pompei is huge and would need 3 days to see everything. I had a day pass and didn't even see a quarter of the site. Whereas Hereculeum is much smaller and not so damaged. Beautiful frescos. Mosaic floors and buildings. Stunning. If you are really limited for time visit Herculeum only. Wear comfortable shoes and take water to both sites.

At this time of year, it is not crowded and you can fully enjoy this beautiful archaeological site. No queues and plenty of opportunity to photograph beautiful corners. The highlight was the exhibition about women in Pompeii in the villa opposite the amphitheater. The sign was inconspicuous and we almost missed it.

On my arrival, I could park my car about 300m from the entrance. Then the lady from tourist shop helped me out with my voucher. Since I choosed a two hour visite in my own terms she offered a booklet in Dutch my own language. Normally 16€ but now for 10€

Built 2,000 years ago... But how logical, functional, beautiful and cared for! The villas are perfectly integrated into the landscape, the windows offer magnificent views of the Neopolitan bay and mountains, socially significant buildings are striking in scale and proportions. Even drinking fountains (utilitarian in their purpose) are decorated with marble heads and arranged systematically and quite often! Aesthetics and harmony with nature amaze modern man, and how fantastic this city was 20 centuries ago .... I can't imagine!

We had very little wait at the tourist office having booked early and were able to walk straight into the park. I advise the audio rather than the guide book - it wasn't well translated at times and missed some interesting points of interest. Makes a nice souvenir though.

It was very easy to find the place to change the voucher for the tickets, and it was very close to the entrance. Pompeii looks amazing! You can walk there for a full day. Also, there is the official app where you can find descriptions of the places and an audio guide.
