What to Expect
Contrary to popular belief, tulips are not native to the Netherlands, but were first brought in from Turkey in the 16th century. However, the beautiful flowers have thrived in Holland, which is now the world's biggest exporter of tulips in the world. The Keukenhof gardens are but a flourishing example of how the bulbs captivate guests for the two months when the gardens open their doors. The Keukenhof gardens attract over a million visitors each year to admire the blooms and the annually changing design of the gardens that keeps returning guests in awe. Located 37 miles away from Amsterdam, right outside the town of Lisse, the gardens are well worth the hour-long drive from the city and make for a perfect getaway in the Spring. Due to the short amount of time the gardens are open, tickets are in limited supply. Booking your tickets online not only gives you priority acces but secures the opportunity to see the flowers in all their glory. A visit to Amsterdam is incomplete without a trip to the marvelous gardens.
