Everything about this trip was absolutely extraordinary! The scenery was breathtaking, with views that truly left us speechless. The monasteries of Meteora, seemingly suspended between heaven and earth, are something you can hardly imagine exists until you see them with your own eyes. There is such a special, peaceful, and positive energy surrounding this place. Meteora is not just beautiful ,it is magical and unforgettable. It was truly one of the most amazing experiences of our trip, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Greece. ❤️🇬🇷

100% highlight of our trip! How in the world did they build those beautiful structures in the tops of those gorgeous mountains?! It seems like it should be one of the wonders of the world! I initially booked the tour at home, but after multiple airline delays, we didn't arrive in time. It was very easy to cancel the trip and receive a full refund. After arriving in Athens, we easily rebooked-- and we are so glad we did!

De reisleidster was archeoloog en kwam ook uit Meteora! Dus het was een heel unieke ervaring. De reis was goed georganiseerd, avondeten was ook op een mooie locatie. De kloosters zijn minder goed te bereiken voor mensen slecht ter been. Tip: haal inclusief lunch, dat scheelt veel gedoe op locatie.

Our guide was enthusiastic and helpful, knowledgeable about the history of the area, and we came away learning a lot. It was a pretty long day, but that couldn't be helped on a day trip Like this. Well organized tour.

Great guide in Clement. The trip was well organised with plenty of stop overs. The sights of Meteora were amazing. However, probably best to start tour at 7am to beat the summer heat. Bring a few bottles of water during summer. Bus driver John was great, got home safely.

́La ponctualité des bus est extraordinaire ! Attention de ne pas traîner dans les boutiques ou pour manger :-). Les repas étant médiocres , on ne reste pas forcément à table longtemps ;-) Notre guide Maria était pétillante, accueillante et très professionnelle. Les monastères visités et les paysages sont à couper le souffle.

What to bring

Bring cash for any small purchases.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with a good grip. Trails and monastery steps can be uneven and steep.

Carry water and a light snack, especially during the summer months (June to August).

Don’t forget earphones and a fully charged smartphone if you plan to use the audio guide during your visit.

A modest dress code is strictly enforced at all monasteries. Men should wear long pants, while women must wear long skirts and cover their shoulders. Wrap skirts and shawls are available at the entrance if needed.

What's not allowed

Photography is welcome in outdoor areas, but taking pictures inside churches, or of monks and nuns, is not permitted.

Drone use is strictly forbidden unless you have special permission.

Accessibility

Most of Meteora’s sites are not wheelchair-friendly, as all monasteries involve climbing stairs or navigating inclined paths.

For visitors with limited mobility, St. Stephen’s Monastery offers the easiest access, with a level, paved path and minimal steps.

Additional information

4 pick-up points are available: Melina Mercouri Monument Plaka (at 7am), Greek Parliament (at 7:05am), Omonoia Square (at 7:15am), and Karaiskaki Square (at 7:25am).

Toilets are available at larger monasteries like Great Meteoron, Varlaam, and St. Stephen’s. A small tip is often expected when using them.
