We really enjoyed our visit at Pena Palace. We had first morning time slots. They didn't open the gates right at 9am. Then the first shuttle driver was late, so it was almost 10am before we got up to the palace. At first I thought they were going to give us trouble, but then they realized my husband had a cane, they told us to wait right where we were. Our tour guide came to us, then we went with only 8 other people. We got to walk right by everyone and got into all the private rooms. It is so beautiful and interesting. Our tour guide spoke good English and was easy to understand and she was enthusiastic and brought the stories to life.

Bernardo was a very patient and entertaining guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The palace is such an enchanting place. Make sure you leave enough time to take the bus up the hill to the park from town. It makes stops and took us almost an hour from when we got on the 434. From there it can take another 20 minutes or so to get through the lines to enter the park and meet your guide.

Our tour guide was fantastic. Well-informed and comprehensive, she provided us with a thorough understanding of the palace and its former owners. Her insights added a depth to our visit that a guide-free experience would have lacked.

The guide was very knowledgeable and the ability to bypass the long lines made it all well worth it! Only issue was some of the guests brought private tour guides who slowed the tour and spoke over the actual tour guide

The guide was thorough in his knowledge of the history and nuances of Pena Castle and the people who lived there. The tour was a great way to circumvent the lines. The combination made for a great tour.
