Pro tips to help you make a pick

Climb the Giralda at dusk. As the city surrenders to twilight, watch the orange rooftops blush pink and the Guadalquivir River shimmer like spilled gold. It's a secret proposal whispered in your ear, a memory you'll clutch forever.

Unlike most museums with glass barriers, the Giralda lets you run your fingers along the worn brick, feeling the whispers of the past etched into its very surface. A tangible connection to civilizations long gone.

Climb the gentle ramps, not stairs, of La Giralda, a unique ascent that feels more like a pilgrimage. At the top, stand beside the Giraldillo weathervane and let the city's whispers brush past your ears. Make a wish, and trust the wind to carry it across Seville's vibrant heart.

About La Giralda

La Giralda boasts a gently inclined ramp, a unique marvel that lets you ascend its 104 meters at your own pace. No huffing and puffing here – just breathtaking cityscapes unfolding with each step. Spot the majestic Seville Cathedral at its base, the orange rooftops winding through the city, and the Guadalquivir River glistening in the distance. It's a workout with a reward – panoramic bragging rights!

Did you know?

Legend says the four bronze spheres once adorning the Giralda held Qur'anic verses. Though removed centuries ago, their absence whispers a tale of religious transformation, a silent testament to the city's rich and multifaceted history.

El Giraldillo, the weathervane crowning the tower, isn't just any statue. This female figure representing Faith has always pointed towards the cathedral. But during a devastating plague in the 16th century, she was temporarily turned to face the city, a symbolic act of hope and protection for the suffering people.

Unlike most bell towers, La Giralda boasts ramps instead of stairs. This ingenious design, built for a sultan on horseback, lets you ascend in quiet contemplation, emerging to a breathtaking panorama of Seville bathed in golden sunlight.

Why visit La Giralda?

Silent witness to centuries

Climb the very ramps where Moorish guards once rode, their whispers echoing in the ancient brick as you ascend. Witness history firsthand, from the golden age of Islam to the rise of Christianity.

Unparalleled city views

Skip the crowded elevators and feel the Seville sun warm your face on a gentle incline. Emerge at the top, not to a metal cage, but to a breathtaking 360° panorama. Let the city unfurl beneath you, a tapestry of terracotta rooftops and the winding Guadalquivir River.

A fusion of cultures

Trace the fascinating blend of Moorish and Christian architecture with your fingertips. Feel the smooth, cool brick of the Almohad minaret contrasting with the ornate Renaissance belfry. This isn't just a tower, it's a testament to tolerance and cultural exchange.

A secret language

Become an insider. Learn the locals' weather lore – when the Giraldillo weathervane, a majestic woman in flowing robes, faces east, rain is on its way. You'll never look at the sky the same way again.

Plan your visit

Main entrance

The Giralda tower itself doesn't have a separate entrance as it's part of the Seville Cathedral. To access it, you'll enter the Cathedral through either the Puerta del Lagarto (Lizard Door) - the main entrance with a crocodile hanging inside.

It’s impossible not to love such a spectacular work of art and place; history is still very much alive here. The years go by, yet every little corner of this place remains preserved, with every step we take, we discover something new for the next generation. I’ll admit, climbing the Giralda is a challenge, but anyone who wants to can do it—and once you decide to go up, you get to see practically all of Seville from above… I loved visiting it. And thank you so much for allowing the public to visit.

Since we arrived knowing absolutely nothing about Seville and the Alcázar, our guide Filippo helped us immerse ourselves not only in the monuments but also in the city’s history, on a truly personalized tour where we felt like active participants rather than just passive listeners. The cathedral and the Alcázar were a wonderful discovery, and then there was Christopher Columbus’s tomb… That alone—and the story behind it—is worth the trip!

A very well-organized tour, with excellent punctuality. Our guide, Cecilia, speaks Italian very well; she is very knowledgeable, and in addition to explaining things clearly, she entertained us with her personality and warmth, while also giving us practical advice about our stay in Seville. We are very satisfied with the experience.

The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The cathedral was beautiful, but I thought the Giralda was much more impressive. There were a lot of people and not much space.
