Getting started

Arrive at the Samurai Museum Tokyo in Shinjuku by 6:50pm, just a short walk from the heart of the district. Check in at the entrance, where you’ll be welcomed as a new recruit to a ninja clan. Your English-speaking guide introduces the mission and leads your group into the museum as the doors close for the evening session.

What to expect

The museum transforms after dark, immersing you in a story-driven adventure through Japan’s warrior age.

Become a ninja for the night as you’re guided through dimly lit halls filled with authentic samurai armor and blades, taking on an active role in the unfolding narrative.

Watch live samurai and ninja performances featuring real blades and choreographed action, with dramatic and humorous moments that invite audience participation.

Take part in the shuriken throwing finale activity: learn the proper grip and stance for these legendary ninja stars, then test your skills at the target—kids and adults are both invited to try.

Capture a commemorative photo among armor and shadows at the end of your mission, a unique keepsake only available during this night experience.

The entire program is a guided tour, with the group moving together through the museum as the story progresses.

Wrapping up

Your experience concludes with the photo session, after which you exit back into the neon-lit streets of Shinjuku.

Free exploration of the exhibits is not permitted during the night session, as the experience is a guided, story-based tour and the group moves together through the museum.

Long video recording during performances is not allowed; photos are welcome, but please be considerate and avoid extended filming.

The lighting inside the museum is dimmed for the Night Museum Tour, so please watch your step and be mindful of your surroundings.

The entire experience is conducted in English, and no prior knowledge of Japanese or Japanese history is required.

The experience is family-friendly, suitable for all ages, and is not scary for children.

The experience is only available on Thursday and Saturday nights, with a single session starting at 7:00pm and limited seats available.
