I’d imagined standing beneath its vaulted ceilings for years, and finally, we went. From the moment we arrived, everything was beautifully organized. The audio guide was included and made the experience even more immersive, walking us through centuries of history with clarity and grace. We paid a small fee to access the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries, tucked high above the nave. Though photography isn’t allowed there, one image is etched in my memory: the Coronation Chair—that ancient oak seat in which British monarchs are crowned. It’s truly covered in countless inscriptions, scratches, and even graffiti. Seeing it up close was surreal, like touching the pulse of history. I saw so much—monarchs’ tombs, Poets’ Corner, the Coronation regalia, and quiet chapels that felt untouched by time. It’s astonishing how much history is held within those walls, yet the Abbey still feels like a secret place, tucked away in the heart of London, waiting to be discovered.
