After a quick inquiry about where to exchange the digital tickets for paper ones—which had been mentioned when purchasing tickets for the Prado—we had to walk past a very long queue of people to a counter. With only two people ahead of us, a friendly lady handed us our admission tickets after an estimated five minutes, to our delight. Everything was straightforward and worked out very well. Highly recommended!

Our experience in the museum was amazing! I also really liked the application "Dex" where we could listen to the story behind the painting however it was not applicable for all of the paintings but there were still an amount of them. It was really great and I really suggest you too have an audio guidance with you.

Easy to get into thyssen. They scanned the bar code. Was surprised to have to queue at the Prado to get a ticket. I assumed when I booked this I would avoid a ticket line. Both museums excellent.

Beautiful Art gallery to spend time in. Head out were easy to buy tickets and gave you directions to the gallery make it easy to get there and straight into the gallery with your online tickets. As Spain’s leading museum for modern and contemporary art, Reina Sofía houses nearly 25,000 works and is renowned for its focus on Spanish artists and pivotal 20th-century movements.

What’s not allowed

Large bags, suitcases, and oversized luggage are not allowed inside the museum for security reasons.

Food and beverages are not permitted inside the exhibition spaces.

Pets are not allowed, except for registered assistance animals.

Flash photography and the use of selfie sticks or tripods are strictly prohibited.

Accessibility

The museum is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators available throughout the building.

You can also loan wheelchairs at the information points at the museum's Sabatini and Nouvel Buildings.

You're free to bring a service animal along, provided you carry all relevant official documentation for verification.

The museum has adapted restrooms across both buildings.

You'll also find accessible parking for adapted vehicles in the museum's loading bay.

Individuals with more than 33% disability enjoy free access to Prado and Thyssen for themselves and one person accompanying them. They must carry an official card or documentation to avail of this benefit.

Additional information

You will access the digital audio guide via an app, so make sure your phone is fully charged.

Minors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The museum remains closed on Tuesdays.

Free access to the museum is available for individual visitors during the last two hours on all days. However, keep in mind that it can get very crowded during this period.

Due to architectural improvements, the museum's library will remain open between 5pm and 9pm until November 21.

Access to certain parts of the museum may be restricted or closed due to improvements or for assembling new collections.
