PortAventura opened on May 1, 1995, under the management of the Tussauds Group (40.01%), La Caixa (33.19%), Anheuser-Busch (19.9%), and FECSA (6.7%). It officially opened to the public on May 2, 1995.

With an investment of approximately €12 million, PortAventura joined the ranks of Universal Studios Japan and Busch Gardens by dedicating an area to Sesame Street. This makes it the only theme park in Europe to feature a Sesame Street-themed land.

Shambhala in PortAventura Park is one of Europe’s tallest roller coasters, reaching heights of 76 meters and speeds of up to 134 km/h.

Each zone in PortAventura Park is themed to represent its culture, from the Mexican Mayan pyramids to the lush Polynesian jungles, creating a fully immersive experience.

Dragon Khan, a steel roller coaster, features 8 inversions, one of the highest counts for any roller coaster in Europe.
