Wow! Don't miss this beautiful & historic opportunity to see the Quinta de Regaleira! Absolutely lovely day exploring the grounds, tunnels and history of this iconic location. This was our second visit to bring our daughter to experience this gorgeous Quinta and we enjoyed all over again. Please don't miss exploring off the beaten track. We found lovely bench areas for a rest and more tunnels with no one around. It was just a gorgeous day and we stopped at the cafe for hot chocolate and croissant w chocolate. Very fast service and quick seating , we recommend stopping there to get a quick bite. The menu for entrees also look good. Don't miss the chance to get yummy smelling soaps, too from the gift shop. I bought a citrus soap last visit and it's lasted a long time! Just a wonderful trip all around! Highly recommend.

We booked through this website for €25 per person for the 11 a.m. time slot. We walked up from the Sintra train station—it’s an easy 15- to 20-minute walk—but you can also take the 434 bus by buying tickets right at the station (€13.60 per person, since they only sell day passes and not individual tickets). We arrived early, worried it might be crowded, but it turned out to be just fine. We went in at 10:45 a.m.—not many people around. Some areas were closed due to construction, but it was no big deal. You can explore the park in any order you like; a map is available at the main points of interest. We really liked the well, the caves, and the little waterfall! Visiting the interior is interesting and offers a chance to learn about the building’s history

I thought it was the original site when bought the tickets It was confusing since the email say "I must PRINT" which confused me since e-tickets don't require that, thankfully Portugal have beautiful people and told me that it was not necessary. Mediaeval but not too much like for require paper. About the booking, once you there (In the park) you need to walk a climb till the castle across the park, to me was okay for my mother complicated, so I recommend in advance to get that bus ticket to the castle, that's about 4.5 euros. To get to the park from the train station, you can take the bus 434, it's a kind of Hop on and hop off, the price is 10.96 per person.

  • Explore two of Sintra’s most fascinating landmarks, Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira, on a self-guided visit.

    Getting started

Arrive at either attraction in Sintra and present your ticket for entry. You can start your visit at Pena Palace or Quinta da Regaleira, depending on your itinerary. After ticket validation, begin exploring the palace interiors, gardens, and pathways at your own pace.

    What to expect

    Pena Palace

Perched high above Sintra’s forested hills, Pena Palace is famous for its colorful towers, ornate interiors, and sweeping terraces.

    Highlights

    • Royal interiors: Explore the New Palace wing and step into richly decorated rooms where Portuguese royalty once lived, complete with intricate tiles, ornate ceilings, and historic furnishings.

    • Panoramic terraces: Walk along the palace’s colorful terraces and balconies, some of the best viewpoints in Sintra, offering sweeping views of forests, hills, and the distant Atlantic.

    • Pena Park & Edla Chalet: Wander through the vast Pena Park filled with winding paths and exotic plants, then visit the charming Chalet of the Countess of Edla tucked among the trees.

    Quinta da Regaleira

Quinta da Regaleira is one of Sintra’s most intriguing estates, known for its mysterious symbolism, romantic gardens, and underground passageways.

    Highlights

    • The Initiation Well: Descend the iconic spiral staircase of the Initiation Well, a striking underground tower believed to symbolize spiritual journeys and initiation rituals.

    • Secret tunnels & grottoes: Follow hidden tunnels and stone pathways that connect wells, caves, and towers across the estate, creating a maze-like landscape full of surprises.

    • Gardens & Regaleira Palace: Stroll through lush gardens dotted with fountains, towers, and statues before exploring the ornate Regaleira Palace overlooking the estate.

    Quinta da Regaleira

    • During the summer months, it is recommended to bring hats/caps to protect from the sun, and water for hydration due to high temperatures.

    • It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking.

    Additional information

    Pena Palace

    • The attraction may be crowded, so expect some waiting time, especially at the security checkpoint (15–20 minutes).

    • Your selected time slot is for entry to Pena Palace. Since it’s about a 30-minute walk from the park entrance to the palace, make sure to arrive early. Late arrivals may be denied entry.

    • Please use the house tour entrance instead of the main gate.

    • Private vehicles are not permitted, so visitors should use pedestrian trails or public transport.

    • About 30 km from Lisbon, Pena Palace sits in Sintra, where parking is available in the historic center or outer lots, though spaces can be limited.

    • The shuttle service covers round-trip transfers between the park entrance and Pena Palace.

    • Reduced tickets for children aged 6-18 and seniors aged 65 and above are available onsite.

    Quinta da Regaleira

    • If you can, avoid driving into Sintra; the streets are narrow, parking is limited, and traffic can be challenging, especially in peak season.

    • Should you drive, park in Sintra town center and enjoy the 30-minute scenic walk to Quinta da Regaleira. Public transport is your best bet to get to Quinta stress-free.

    • Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
    • Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point.
