Visiting Quinta da Regaleira was one of the best experiences of our trip. Every path, garden, and building seems to hold a story. The Initiation Well is even more impressive in person, and the atmosphere has a mysterious, magical quality that invites you to explore at your own pace. It’s a well-maintained place, full of details, and perfect for anyone who enjoys history, architecture, and nature. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone visiting Sintra.

The castles Pena and quinta da regaleira were amazing to visit. Pena is a bit more focussed on just the castle. Quinta da regaleira is a whole experience with a beautiful garden to get lost in. It is worth it to walk from train station Cintra towards Pena, amazing walk of like 35min. You can easily walk to Regaleira from Pena as well. And if you dont feel like it the carts pendeling over there are pretty cheap. Anyways worth a visit for sure!!!!

The fastest and best way to get there is to use the transportation options available throughout the city, whether it’s a tuk-tuk or a shared ride; the drivers are very friendly and will give you useful tips on what to see and how to plan your visits. The park is amazing, and the palace is SPLENDID—though there were some lines and a bit of a wait since it was early July—but it’s definitely worth the visit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you’re in the Lisbon area.

An incredible experience, a thrilling journey through the history of Portugal. But there’s something that sets it apart: the details in the decor, the art collections, and the works created by Ferdinand II himself make the experience truly unique. Palácio da Pena For me, the Palácio da Pena is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re in a fairy tale. The exterior is spectacular and the views are incredible, but the crowds can take away some of its charm. It’s worth seeing at least once for the unique atmosphere and for the photos. Quinta da Regaleira I found Quinta da Regaleira to be more special. It doesn’t impress with its grandeur, but with its mystery. The tunnels, gardens, and the Initiation Well give you the feeling that you’re uncovering a hidden secret. It’s one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. If I had to choose just one, I’d go back to Regaleira. Pena impressed me, but Regaleira enchanted me.

We loved everything—the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. What a wonderful place!!! The buildings are of exceptional artistic quality, featuring sculptures, doors, frescoes, and marquetry. They had a team of true artisans and artists to create this dream in the midst of an area with magnificent vegetation!!! The staff was very friendly. And everything was well-maintained and clean. I 100% recommend visiting.

Smooth entry eventhough we ran 30 mins late, not many people there, it felt very special and omg the palace is stunning, out of a fairy tale. Everyone was efficient and friendly. We walked through the park to the palace de contessa, beautiful! And the trees inside the park are magnificent! All in all a wonderful experience!

Such a gorgeous and mystical place to wander and explore. The initiation well and the caves were the kids favorite. The grounds and detail were spectacular. We had an audio tour with our tickets but didn't see specifics on how to get that so unfortunately, we missed out on that. Next time, I would opt for a guide.

The attraction may be crowded, so expect some waiting time, especially at the security checkpoint (15–20 minutes).

Your selected time slot is for entry to Pena Palace. Since it’s about a 30-minute walk from the park entrance to the palace, make sure to arrive early. Late arrivals may be denied entry.

Please use the house tour entrance instead of the main gate.

Private vehicles are not permitted, so visitors should use pedestrian trails or public transport.

About 30 km from Lisbon, Pena Palace sits in Sintra, where parking is available in the historic center or outer lots, though spaces can be limited.

The shuttle service covers round-trip transfers between the park entrance and Pena Palace.

Reduced tickets for children aged 6-18 and seniors aged 65 and above are available onsite.

Quinta da Regaleira

If you can, avoid driving into Sintra; the streets are narrow, parking is limited, and traffic can be challenging, especially in peak season.

Should you drive, park in Sintra town center and enjoy the 30-minute scenic walk to Quinta da Regaleira. Public transport is your best bet to get to Quinta stress-free.
