I've been to many countries and many castles in Europe - this was by far the most unique and beautiful. Absolutely worth the medium hike up from the garden entrance to the palace. The inside was stunning but the outside was something out of a movie. I could not get enough pics. Just a note: you definitely need to take some form of transport up to the garden gates. Its like... way up the mountain and it takes a good 30 minutes even on a bus. We also loved the Regalia - prepare for some walking, its actually quite a large park with a few attractions within it which I was not expecting. its also about a 20 minute walk from the main Sintra square, up hill. We were hoofing it to make it to our slot on time from where we parked.

Pena Palace is a spectacular place and a must-visit in Sintra. The palace is beautiful, both for its architecture and colors and for the incredible views it offers. I recommend buying tickets in advance and choosing your entry time carefully, as it tends to get very crowded and tickets can sell out. It is also important to arrive early and wear comfortable shoes, because you have to walk from the entrance and go through several steep areas. My advice is to take the bus or use the available transport instead of walking up, to save energy and enjoy the visit more. Definitely an experience that is well worth it.

These are incredible places—no description can truly capture just how unique the parks and buildings are. That’s why I recommend taking a guided tour of at least the Quinta da Regaleira. Sintra will also surprise you with its pastries and the kindness of the people you meet.

It is well worth going with plenty of time to be able to see everything. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. I also recommend bringing a backpack with water, and you can bring food as well.

Everything was very efficient, both the Lisboa Card and the tickets purchased for the Pena Palace. We had to wait in lines, but they moved quite quickly anyway.

Both palaces and their gardens are truly marvelous. We especially liked the Regaleira Palace much better, with its caves, fountains, and the spectacular inverted well. As for the Pena Palace, it was a cloudy and foggy day, and the scenery wasn’t as striking as it would have been under clear skies. What I liked least was the massive crowd at the Pena Palace—it was a real shame. It was like lice in a seam. We didn’t enjoy it as much as we did the Regaleira Palace.

A very beautiful place with a fantastic view from the top of the palace. The only downside was that we didn't realize the time listed on the tickets was for the palace tour and that we could enter earlier to explore the rest of the grounds. Otherwise, it was a perfect tour—very shaded and pleasant. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Getting to the palace involves a bit of a walk with a steep incline. Once at the top, it was very crowded despite the time slots that had been set up. However, the palace is magnificent and the view is exceptional. It’s a must-see!

Pena Palace is stunning and the views from the various viewing platforms are spectacular. The walks in the garden are lovely and using the onsite app makes following the routes easy.
